2013 Ford Edge - Family Car
I love my Edge. Having two children under the age of 4 causes me to bring many things with while traveling. There's always enough room (including room for our 50lb dog) to fit everything comfortably. I especially love the stereo system. It has a great sound quality. The back up system beeps to let you know if anything is behind you and it beeps more quickly if you are close to something. I live in a snowy climate and it handles so well when driving in cold, icy, and snowy conditions. My family always feels secure in my Edge.
Story
One time it was raining. I turned on the back wiper. It would start to squeak every so often and my son loved the sound and started to giggle uncontrollably every time he heard it.
Pros
Drives well in the snow. It is also very roomy.
Cons
I don't love the look; I like a more boxy look to a car.
2008 Ford Edge - Overall a win
The car rides smooth for an SUV. The design of the car does impact the trunk space, but the seats fold down if needed. The backseat fits two car seats, but there is not enough room for 3 if needed. It drives well in bad weather, which is good. It handles very "boxy" in the corners though - can give you the feeling that it would be easy to roll if not careful.
Story
The all wheel drive works pretty well for off-roading. We went camping and took a drive thru some older nature trails in New York that were for four-wheelers. We actually were able to drive on the trails comfortably and did not get stuck.
Pros
It's comfortable and you feel safe while driving. I love my heated seats and heated mirrors!
Cons
Transmission sticking seems to be an issue at about 60,000 miles, and is pretty common if you research it.
