2013 FIAT 500 - Comfortable, reliable, stylish.
The FIAT 500 Pop is the base model for fiats. Even in the base model, many modern day conveniences are present, such as automatic windows, Bluetooth phone control and usb and auxiliary ports. The manual transmission allows for control of acceleration on on-ramps and the freeway that is often difficult in low horsepower vehicles of a similar size.
Story
My family took a road trip to San Diego. While cramped, the FIAT was able to transport us and our gear up mountains and along coastal highways with ease.
Pros
For short and tall drivers, the FIAT 500 offers comfort, style, and a good amount of space. The safety rating is high, with 7 airbags throughout the vehicle and a well proportioned base to reduce sliding/tipping in adverse weather conditions. There are a wide variety of upgrade options not only for styling, but performance as well. The back seat can be removed for additional cargo space. So far, the car has worked well for a three person family.
Cons
The side to side space in the driver space is limited, so I would not recommend for wider drivers. There is only 101 horsepower, so downshifting to increase acceleration is often required. The automatic transmission version would most likely not allow for this. Since the car is smaller, larger families would not be well accommodated.
