One could say that my Dodge Stratus SXT sedan must not be such a terrible vehicle as I am still driving the 2003 model car in 2019, but let me explain. I purchased the car new; it only had 34 miles on it. It currently has less the 80,000 miles on it. The cabin is loud, not blocking out near enough road noise. The car started rattling within a few years, even though almost all of the miles were paved roads, and there were a well-below-average number of miles driven. I started having problems with the air conditioner around the fifth year of ownership, and several different mechanics have been unable to fix the issue, or manage to only get it to work for one summer. I have had to have the same sensor (they call it an oxygen sensor) replaced at least every other year for half of the time ... (more)
Story
The only positive memorable story I can recall that is specifically related to this vehicle is a couple of months after I bought the car, I went to a local lumber yard and picked up a few scrap pieces of wood for a scout project I was leading. These were not large or heavy pieces of wood, but they were scrap and not exactly as clean as new lumber. I remember an older gentleman walking by on th... (more)
Pros
The vehicle has plenty of space for the size of the car. The trunk is roomy enough for most occasions. The backseat fold down to allow space for wider or longer items to be transported. The seats are reasonably comfortable, and the fabric has not shown significant signs of wear. The vinyl portions of the dash have held up good with no noticeable fading. I have not had any problems with the electric windows or mirrors; they still function properly. The car has always seemed to handle well on the road.
Cons
The worst thing about this car is that the plastic trim pieces on the interior are very low quality, cracking and falling apart with very little wear or stress, making the interior look awful. Also, the battery is located inconveniently where someone has to remove the front driver's side wheel before the battery can be changed. There have been repeated oxygen sensor failures and air conditioner issues.

2003 Dodge Stratus - Dodge Stratus SXT was worth every penny I paid.

The Dodge Stratus SXT is a car made by Mitsubishi Motors here in America. Dodge wanted to come out with a sporty edition of their Dodge Stratus so they hired on Mitsubishi to make a version of the car different only in exterior body of the car. Overall I have owned the car for eight years and it has ran flawlessly. It currently has 116,000 miles on it and the only repairs I have had to make was changing the alternator belt.
Story
Whenever someone new gets into the car they always mention how low they are to the ground.
Pros
The car has been incredible mechanically sound. Car looks sporty and gets decent gas mileage- about 25 city and 30 highway. The car handles well and has power windows and comes with a sunroof.
Cons
While the car may be exceptional when it comes to being mechanically sound. Many of the looks to the car have faded to time. The gaskets keeping the rain out between the doors have failed. The sunroof has also failed, thankfully in the shut position.
