2001 Dodge Stratus - Low maintenance and built for travel
I really like the shape of the Dodge Stratus coupe- it's very sleek and "sporty" in a way, even though it's not a sports car. It drives very smoothly on most roads.
I have had this vehicle since 2009, my senior year of high school. I drove from Nebraska to Texas in this car at least twice, then from Texas to Virginia several times as well. My most recent road trip in this car was from Virginia to Texas- I have put thousands of miles on this vehicle and it's still a reliable car. I have driven this car in white-out snow storms, in heavy rain, in sleet, and in very very hot temperatures and the performance has been great. As far as repairs, I had to get the alternator replaced as well as the radiator. It's a used car, though, so some repairs over the 14 years can be expected.

Story
When I was in high school, there was a white-out storm. The wind was blowing so hard and the snow was falling so heavily that my friend's mom was too nervous about driving to come to school to pick him up. I didn't have a lot of gas in my car either- I was on my last leg. I drove my friend home through a white-out storm on my last leg of gas and got home safely as well.
Pros
I don't know a lot about car maintenance and over the six years I've owned this car, it hasn't given me much trouble. I've had to get a few repairs done, but overall this car has performed great given the miles I've put on it.
I really like the sleek, sporty shape of the car.
Cons
This car is very low and has a longer nose then other cars, so I have scraped this car on many roads over the years.
There is no space for passengers. Coupe's aren't designed to fit passengers comfortable in general, but this is definitely just something to keep in mind if you need a car that fits more than one passenger on a regular basis.
2001 Dodge Stratus - Reliable
I've had my Dodge Stratus for close to 15 years now, and I'm very please with the performance I've gotten out of it.
I've had to replace a few parts of the years, but nothing that has made me contemplate purchasing a new vehicle.
The interior, and exterior, of the vehicle has held up very well considering it's age.
I believe that the gas mileage is decent compared to similar vehicles made during the same time.
Story
When first getting the vehicle, I can remember picking up my best friend on his birthday for a joy ride.
Pros
The stock stereo system sounds great for what was put in cars at the time it was made.
For a four-cylinder vehicle, it has good acceleration and speed.
It has a sleek design that's still eye pleasing to this day.
A very well built vehicle that has stood the test of time.
There's a great deal of trunk space.
Cons
The paint is starting to fade, and the clear coat is beginning to peel.
The turn radius could be better; I have trouble doing U-turns on narrow roads.
The vehicle is heavy, which has lead me to replacing the brakes more often than usual.
The vehicle is low to the ground, making it difficult for bigger, or taller, people to enter or exit the vehicle.
There's not much leg room for anyone sitting in the back seat.
The dash has cracked after years of sun exposure.
