I've had this truck for a few months now and so far it runs like a champ. It does have cheap plastic though in the interior. I've never seen one with a perfect dashboard, though they do make dash caps. The transmission is the worst thing about this truck. Mileage is 113k and it does have the original transmission, but it doesn't like to shift gears quickly (almost have to floor it for it to downshift and left almost completely off the accelerator for it to shift up). Gas mileage is 14/15 around town and 17-18 on the freeway. I have the extended cab model, which allows me to carry several extra passengers, or lots of cargo storage space by flipping up the back bench seat. This truck is also a 4x4. It has a strong V8 engine, and can go through the toughest terrain with ease. It also has ... (more)
Story
Driving my truck around the flood stricken areas of North Carolina after Hurricane Florence hit was an adventure. There were many downed trees and flooded roads, but driving my lifted Dodge Truck gave me an advantage to get around safely.
Pros
The best features of my Dodge Ram 1500 is the reliability and functionality. It has a great 5.2 V8 engine that starts up every time.
Cons
The cheap plastic dash and instrument bezel that completely falls apart from the heat of the sun. Also, the gas mileage could be better. With a 26 gallon tank, it only gets about 250 miles on a full tank. That makes it very expensive with today's gas prices to travel any long distances.

This is a good dependable truck. This is third one I have owned. I have bought them all new and have had very little problems. It is very reliable, and you know what you have. I need a truck for work and also use it to transport my kayak. I would recommend this truck to anyone who needs a big vehicle or cargo carrying capacity. This is a vehicle that will not let you down and will perform in an exemplary manner
Story
I took my kayak down to the river last year, and there was a guy with a little Ford Ranger trying to get his boat out of the water. We were able to hook it up to my truck, and I easily pulled it out. I had a kayak and a big truck; he had an outboard with a little one.
Pros
This truck has great torque and can carry anything you can possibly put into it. It is mechanically sound, and the engine - with just a little care and common sense - will run forever. This truck will run well in all kinds of weather and road conditions. Even though I live near the ocean, there is no rust. The engine has started every single time I have turned the key. This is a well-made vehicle
Cons
The only real negative thing about this truck are the brakes. I have owned three, and the brakes had to be replaced on all three at around 70,000 miles. They have had a number of years since the changed designs and have had more than ample time to fix this issue. I can only assume they can't be bothered. This is a design flaw. The other issue is with mileage, I know it is a big truck, but they easily could have goosed the mileage. Again, I have to say they do not care.

We originally bought a Cobalt and ended up having to return it due to mechanical issues. CarMax was pretty understanding and we were able to exchange it for something else. I saw a red Dodge Caliber that I really wanted and they worked with me on the price and we were able to drive it home the next day.

The sales staff at Deacon Jones has been the most helpful sales staff I have come across at a car dealership. I was able to call ahead of time and give them my information, let them know what vehicles I was interested in and how much I was willing to pay. When I showed up at the dealership they had 3 vehicles lined up for me to look at, I was also approved for a loan, and all I had to do was test drive the vehicles to pick out the one I wanted.
