2006 Dodge Grand Caravan - This van is pretty much just like other vans I have owned in the past.

This van is has been comfortable for my family for the passed few years. For the most part, this van is a dependable vehicle to get me to work and back home. I have taken it on short trips for weekend vacations, but I would not trust it on a long road trip. It is comfortable to drive with the many different ways I can adjust the driver's seat but isn't very comfortable while sitting in the passengers seat. Bucket seats in the middle row make getting into the third row easier than previous vans I have owned. The automatic sliding side doors are a nice idea, if they worked. The back lift gate is also suppose to be automatic, and it works about 50% of the time but doesn't stay open without someone holding it in cold weather. When it is warm, it seems to stay open without me holding it. Th... (more)
Story
This van will seat my entire family, which totals seven people. The youngest sit in the third row, but they won't be able to fit there for much longer, as they are all growing.
Pros
Positive things about this van on my list would be the leather interior and middle bucket seats. The radio also has pretty good sound for a factory installed basic system. The space behind the third row of seats is also something I find important. It's big enough to put a cooler in and at least one big suitcase without having to take the seats out. The back seats also fold down part of the way to enable me to put bigger things in through the back. Since I do a lot of bulk shopping for my family, this is beneficial. This van has the option to move the foot pedals forward for a shorter perso... (more)
Cons
The top negative thing about this van is how the optional things that seem to all be extras did not work for very long after I purchased it. The automatic sliding side doors with remote on the key were unbelievably useful at first. It was so easy for me to unlock and open one door or the other to put groceries in. I used this option a lot for the first year or so that I owned this van but the passenger side stopped working. I couldn't use the remote anymore and the button inside also stopped working. When I inquired about getting it fixed, I was told that it would end up costing me about $... (more)

I have been extremely pleased with the drivability and quality of this van. It's not an easy choice to go from a car to a van, but with three growing boys we needed to do it and I'm so glad we did. The back row is a split bench and the center row is bucket seats. Why is that important? Well, I took the kids to their grandparents this summer, about 4 hours driving, and they wanted to take their bikes. We don't have a bike rack. But, we folded down one side of the bench, dropped one of the bucket seats into the Stow and Go, and had plenty of room for the bikes and the kids. One boy sat in the back half-bench, one in the remaining bucket, and the oldest on the passenger side up front. Everyone was comfortable and I was tickled that we still had room for the suitcases behind the remaining ... (more)
Story
While on vacation this summer, I wanted to take the kids to a drive-in movie. They'd never been to one. They changed into pajamas and we loaded up the van with blankets, pillows, and snacks. When we got to the drive-in, I pulled around and backed into the spot. Sound comes in through the van's speakers now on a radio station, so I adjusted the audio to the back of van, opened the hatch, and we... (more)
Pros
There are so many things to love about this van. From the driver's perspective, cruise control is easy to use, as are the radio and satellite radio controls because they're all on the steering wheel. The DVD system comes with a remote, so I don't even have to do anything other than put the disc in for the kids. The interior is roomy and we use the Stow and Go compartments under the second row to transport bulky items like my son's hockey gear, sleeping bags, spare coats, ski helmets, you name it. I've already mentioned the split bench seats in the back - they are great when you need to con... (more)
Cons
This is tough because the negative things for me are all very superficial. We live in a rural area and I wanted a van with a dark interior to minimize showing dirt. The only van our small dealer could find with a dark interior had a white exterior - something I personally hate due to white always looking dirty. But, this van had everything else we wanted, so I tucked away my displeasure at the superficial and have otherwise thoroughly enjoyed owning and driving this van. To help with my "dirty white van" phobia, we got a monthly car wash pass at the local car wash near my office and I get ... (more)

It was easy to get credit. I knew someone who recommended the dealership. They had a great deal of variety.
