We purchase the van from my parents who owned it for five years before we did. My mother was meticulous with maintenance so we knew we were getting a van in the best possible shape considering the age (5 years old in 2011). Since we've owned it, we have not had a major mechanical issue, period. We have had to have certain components replaced (alternator, battery, rack and pinion for power steering) but noting that would have caused us to consider whether or not we should spend the money to repair it. Overall, it has been a wonderful vehicle.
Story
We took the van to Hawley Lake, Arizona and had it filled to the brim with everything we could think to bring. The floor compartments behind the front seats we filled with food. That was one of the most fun family trips we've ever had!
Pros
It's been very reliable. It has the stow and go which has been a huge advantage. We have moved a full-sized sofa and a Piano in that van. I don't think you could do that in any other van. The seats are comfortable and there's plenty of room for my wife and I and our four kids.
Cons
The fit and finish is a bit on the cheap side. Every few months, we lose part of the inside trim. Nothing major and nothing that affects functionality but a minor annoyance (again considering its age which is 10+ years now). Some of the electrical components are starting to go as well. The two sliding doors do not lock/unlock with the keyless or the switch on the front doors. One sliding door does not open at all using the auto system and the other door only opens and closes correctly 50% of the time.

2002 Dodge Grand Caravan - Not bad for the price!

I bought this vehicle very second hand. It's been through a lot so I do realize that. However, in the time that we've had it, there are just some ridiculous things that Dodge did that have caused us a lot of grief. The quality of the vehicle is less than I would've expected.
Story
We've been able to do quite a bit with this minivan! With it's tow capability and the room inside. One time we were able to remove the seats and haul a pool table. That was pretty cool!
Pros
What I do like about my Dodge Grand Caravan Sport is that it has a really good heater. I've never had a problem with keeping it warm. As a matter of fact, it gets too warm. The inside panels are easy to remove and put back in for cleaning. It's spacious and fits the family well. It can tow a lot!
Cons
The front seats don't go back as far as I'd like but that's minor. The suspension is shifty and loose and doesn't handle well. You have to take the entire dash off to get to the back three spark plugs. There's no fuse block in the cab, which I feel is the cause of insufficient power to the vehicle. The headlights are very low quality. It burns oil!
