2006 Dodge Grand Caravan - A Minivan for the Anti-Minivan Guy
I never thought I would be a van guy. I never wanted to be a van guy. Sometimes life dictates that you become a van guy. That's what happened to me when our third child was on the way. I researched many types of minivans before ultimately deciding on the Dodge Grand Caravan. What sold me on it most was that it drives like a car. I got in and didn't feel like I was 8 feet off the ground, didn't feel like I was steering a boat, and didn't have to floor it to get up a hill. It's a very comfortable ride and has decent bells and whistles for its era.
Story
We almost lived out of this van for a week while visiting Disneyland. Sure, we had a hotel room, but we were able to fit bedding, baby gear, food coolers, clothing, and other personal affects.
Pros
The engine has good pickup and the van is easy to drive overall. The stow and go seats are a lifesaver as I've been able to fold them down and haul large items such as furniture, lumber, and bricks--things that would normally require a truck. There is plenty of room for the kids and there is still room for a decent-sized trunk.
Cons
The power doors were fun for about a year, but unfortunately they started to malfunction and now do not work at all.
