2007 Dodge Grand Caravan - 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan
My Dodge Grand Caravan is a decent vehicle. I bought it used in 2009 and it has served us well. It is large enough to carry my family and friends as well as haul things, because of the fold in floor seating. There have been a few problems with the body and the air conditioner doesn't work well, but overall I've been happy with it and I would purchase another.
Story
We were remodeling our bathroom in the middle of winter and thought we could fit both the bathtub and surround inside the van. We were wrong, but had to get them home anyway, so the surround went inside and the tub on top. I drove carefully and my husband hung out the window holding on to the tub, in the freezing cold.
Pros
The major reasons I purchased this vehicle was the fold in floor seating, dual remote sliding doors and the remote lift gate. I also liked the dual control AC/heat.
Having the seats fold down has been perfect for hauling items, mostly for home improvement projects, like 8 foot sheets of drywall.
The remote sliding doors and tailgate have made loading kids and stuff a breeze.
Cons
For the majority of the time I've owned the van, there has been rust developing along the inside of the tailgate. At less than 10 years old, the body has rusted significantly and it looks terrible.
The driver's side sliding door lock no longer works, which means it won't open with the remote, negating the ease of having the remote. The cost to fix it is significant and more than I'm willing to pay on a 7 year old vehicle.
The AC has always been weak and takes forever to cool off. We've taken it in several times to have the system checked or refreshed and we were told that is just how i... (more)
2007 Dodge Grand Caravan - Dependable vehicle
We have driven this car for nearly ten years, and it seems to still have a little life left in it. This vehicle has been on three cross-country moves hauling personal belongings and on many couple-day-drive round-trip traveling. We have had to do emergency tire changes three times, and they went quickly and smoothly. So far, the only major work needed was a rear axle replacement after it was bent (unsure how that happened, though). This has been our primary vehicle for almost ten years, and for two of those years, it was the only vehicle for the household. It handles well in all weather conditions it has encountered so far, including fair amounts of snow and ice. Once this vehicle reaches the end of its usefulness, we fully intend to replace it with a newer Grand Caravan and drive that... (more)
Story
Saved money on a sofa sleeper by just barely fitting it in the back of the van and driving it home rather than paying for store delivery.
Pros
Rear seats fold into floor for storage. Large storage capacity. Drives comfortably. Easy to maintain. Handles well in ice and snow. Donut and tools are easily accessible. Air conditioner works well in front seats. Heats fairly quickly. Handles longer trips well. Able to put many miles on it. Seats several people. Seats are easy to fold up and down. Have not had major maintenance issues. Wears tires evenly. Handles heat and cold well.
Cons
Slight rusting. Poor air circulation in rear. Volume control knob is buggy. Windows don't always respond on first button press. Locks will occasionally lock themselves while vehicle is parked and running. Gas economy not the greatest. Driver side door lock button slow to respond. Headlights dim. Goes out of alignment occasionally. Invites teasing from coworkers and friends.
