My Dodge Durango has been my adventure vehicle for a few years now. It has tons of room for all the gear that could possible fit, plus a few of your friends. The 4 wheel drive helps get up to some of the more inaccessible mountain areas, and performs fairly well in the snow. The folding third row seating is great for a night downtown with your six favorite people, and the seats can be quickly and easily folded down for your six favorite dogs. The only real downside to my Durango is that it drinks nearly as much gas as a small military tank. I find myself filling up the car entirely too often, and i become deeply saddened as I watch the bill go up at the gas station. Overall, it is a very comfortable ride with tons of space for any kind of adventure.
Story
I have used the old "Durangwu" for a plethora of outdoor adventures and trips, all of them fun. From hauling canoes to powder ski days, fishing trips to late night star watching, my Durango has always been able to get me where if need to be and carry all the gear and fun stuff if might need along the way.
Pros
The best thing about my Dodge Durango is the space. I rarely keep the third row raised, and it allows me to keep all my outdoor gear in my car - making it perfect for that after school/work ski trip. I've also spent countless nights in the back of my Durango, and I can say it is the best car sleep I have ever had. It also has a lot of power, and in tricky winter situations I can count on that added power for help. Be it a quick gas burst to keep from being t-boned at an icy intersection, or pulling my friend out of a ditch, the V8 power of the Durango makes it a very handy winter car.
Cons
The gas mileage in this car is horrific. I do not think of myself as someone who drives a lot and I feel like i spend a disproportionate amount of time and money when dealing with my gas tank. It seems I can never keep it full and when the 1/4 mark hits on the gauge, you can expect that the gaslight is very shortly going to be blinking on. Surprisingly on the highway it seems like my Durango does a really great job on mileage, but going to school and work seems to drain the tank exceptionally quickly. Also, although i really like the amount of space that the Durango had, i sometimes felt t... (more)
