2002 Dodge Durango Owner Ratings & Reviews

2002 Dodge Durango - Best vehicle I have ever owned
I have had my Durango for six years now. We bought it used at 130,000 miles and we now have well over 220,000 miles on it, and it's still running strong. I am one that forgets to change the oil every 5,000 miles and it has never had a problem. Electric seats easily accommodates my shorter 5'4" frame as well as my husbands larger 6'0" frame, making it easy to switch drivers on long family road trips. The third row seat has been great for hauling extra kids to and from sports events, as well as laying it down and doing "large" grocery shopping trips. And the 4x4 has never let me down! However, the Durango is not the greatest commuter vehicle. Low gas mileage hurts on the long commute to and from work.
Story
Driving from Colton, Oregon to Woodburn, Oregon for work one year. Worst snow we'd had in awhile. The normal 30 minute commute turned into a 2 1/2 hour drive. 15 miles per hour if that. There I was passing just putting along at a snails pace. But I was still passing by large 4x4 trucks that couldn't make it up the hills or around corners without spinning out. I just threw it in 4H and away I went!
Pros
One of the best things about the Dodge Durango is the third row seating. I can fit an extra kid or two in the back, or separate two that are annoying each other. And if no kids, the back seat lays down providing plenty of room for shopping bags.
Cons
The only negative aspect of the Durango would be the gas mileage. It gets about 13 mpg in town and about 16 mpg hwy. Not the best commuter vehicle. The leg room in the middle row is limited. No "trunk" space if third row is up.
2002 Dodge Durango - Best vehicle I ever owned.
I purchased this vehicle in Fall of 2007. This was my first SUV. I was drawn to this specific Durango because of the low 18,000 mileage, the excellent body, and the extraordinary pearl white color. I enjoyed this model of the Durango for the strong look of the hoods grill, and the shine to its metal and the Durango emblem nestled in the center. I have had this vehicle for seven years running, and I count my blessings everyday. While I am not the most mechanical of men, I have put in as much as anyone to minor vehicle service and upkeep. I have never been disappointed at inspection time. Most of the repairs on the vehicle have been general...bulb replacements, new wiper blades, spark plugs. There has been several years the only thing I paid for was the inspection. The only major money I... (more)
Story
My mom is eighty years old, and use to her own Cadillac. But she never has any problem adapting to the comfort of the Durango. She has graced the vehicle many times!
Pros
The body appeals to me most, the slick curves and the way the grill attaches to the hood. The color pearl white with the gray accents. The light gray interior leather. The additional seating for two. The low mileage.
Cons
None. I have nothing bad to say about my Durango, it has been a blessing.
