At first, the body of the Dodge Durango always excited me. The sleek and confident look of the round edges make the car appear modern, even though mine is a 2005. The space within the vehicle is appealing as well, especially for those with big families like I have. My Durango seats 7 comfortably and is great for long family trips to Disney World. I bought the car used. Within just three days of the purchase, we could feel the car shaking, rattling and over heating. Could it have been the fault of the dealer to sell us a car below standards? Perhaps, but the problems kept on persisting. Granted the car is old but I thought American vehicles were built to last. Or is that just Ford? I have had so many issues with this vehicle, mechanically that it is not worth what we are paying for just... (more)
Story
Our trip to Disney World was amazing in this car. We have a family of 5 and thought we would need to rent a van in order to get there comfortably, but this was perfect as far as space is concerned.
Pros
The exterior of the car is gorgeous. I love the look of it as it drives down the street. Its appearance is commanding and attractive. The body of the car is bold and sleek and certainly turns heads. The car also came with the rack on the top which gives it definition. It also came with the side step up feature that allows for easy jump in to the vehicle. The fog lights make it look tough in the night. It is very roomy and although the trunk is small, the back seats can be pushed forward to allow for ample trunk space.
Cons
Many cons. Many more cons that expected. I have encountered trouble mechanically than with any other vehicle. The Dodge Durango has also had several recalls. One recall was a faulty electrical line and there was one with the oxygen valve. I have had to put much work into this car and the check engine light remains on despite all of the numerous visits to repair shops and my own findings. This vehicle is a never ending trap of problems that never seem to go away.

This is a good running vehicle. It has the get-up and go that our family requires in a vehicle. Surprisingly, it does not use an exceptional amount of gas either. I really like the style of it in addition to its practicality. The space that this vehicle has is really great! We can get the kids and all of their belongings in it very comfortably with minimal effort. Grocery shopping with the kids in tow is no longer a problem with all of the interior space that goes along with this sport utility vehicle. We also have the optional third row seat so if we need to haul additional passengers, it is not a problem.
Story
We took the kids to a small zoo that is about 50 miles away from our home and it was great to be able to fit the stroller, the cooler and my father into our Durango in addition to us and our kids.
Pros
Some of the top positive things about this vehicle are as follows: 1) the amount of interior space it has to offer 2) the comfort of the seats - it is a great vehicle to take on long distance road trips 3) Lastly, another thing that I like about this vehicle is that you can not hear the motor once inside like you can other vehicles.
Cons
A negative about this vehicle would be that the one tire keeps going flat. We have to put air in it about every 2 to 3 months. The garage tells us there is nothing wrong with it and we shouldn't have to replace it; but it is annoying for us to have to put up with this little issue.

Overall, Durangos are my favorite SUV. They ride so very nicely, with lots of interior room. It can act like a truck when you need to carry or haul something.
Story
I love how well my Durango climbs over Hogback Mountain in VT with no issues at all. I love to be able to see the view from the top.
Pros
I love the V8 engine that gives me plenty of horsepower when I need it. Having a 4wd option is a valuable thing to have here in New England, where we have lots of snow.
Cons
In the first six weeks, I had several mechanical problems. This included the A/C, clutch, o2 sensor and fuel pump. A down side to Durangos is that they are not the greatest on gas mileage. I average about 20 miles per gallon of gas. Also, make sure to not go over on your oil change mileage or you will see a huge drop in gas mileage.
