Dodge Dakota Owner Ratings & Reviews

2003 Dodge Dakota - Reliable
The vehicle was used when I purchased it, so it already had over 200,000 miles. The interior was in very good condition with virtually no stains, rips, tears, or signs of wearing. The body had almost no rust on it aside from one spot where the truck had been dented by the previous owner. The bed of the truck was in rough shape and had several holes rusted through it, but it still help up for any tasks I needed to use it for. The underside was minimally rusted as well. It handled very well in all types of weather, especially because I didn't have snow tires on it and it still handled very well in snow and bad weather. The only things that I didn't like about the truck were a couple small details. The rear windows were incredibly squeaky whenever they were being rolled up or down and the... (more)
Story
The truck had been through Yankee Lake Truck Night quite a few times.
Pros
The top positive things that I liked about the Dodge Dakota was that it handled very well in all weather and on any terrain that it encountered. Especially in the area that I was living when I owned it, it was critical that it was able to handle whatever I tried to put it through.
Cons
The only negative things were a couple physical components of the car like the foggy headlights, broken windows, and one large rust spot where it had been dented by the previous owner.
2002 Dodge Dakota - Tough
I liked how the truck was small enough to be gas efficient, yet tough enough to get some real work done. I used it to commute to work and some hard hauling. I cut firewood for the winter, and I hauled quite a bit with it. The bed was a bit small but I just hooked a trailer on and my truck pulled it with no problem. It was also a quad cab, nothing is better than having a truck that is good on gas, can pull heavy loads, and fit five people.
Story
I had been rear ended by another driver, and it totaled his car, but there wasn't a scratch on my truck.
Pros
My truck has decent gas mileage. Not the best but far from the worst. It can pull like the big boys. The four-wheel drive on it is very nice, and it was my first truck I've owned where I didn't have to get out of the vehicle to lock the wheels. It can take a beating as well; it has a metal body, which I really look forward to in my trucks.
Cons
I had some issues with the brakes. The calipers themselves wore out pretty fast compared to other vehicles I have had. It's very hard to replace anything in the engine as all the parts are so close together. You can barley get a hand in.
