1995 Dodge Dakota - Dodge Dakota Holds Up Well
I bought my Dodge Dakota in 2005. At the time, the vehicle was ten years old - model 1995. I was looking for a second pickup, as I was having some issues with my older vehicle and wanted a back up vehicle. I am still driving my Dakota and am pleased with its performance. It has turned out to be a reasonably reliable investment. I would recommend the Dodge Dakota to others.
Story
My family loves to do outdoor things like fishing and hiking, so we rely on the truck a lot for that. It has never let us down.
Pros
There is very little rust on the vehicle, and I'm pleased with how the body has held up. The interior is in good shape too, and I like the small back seat for additional passenger and storage space. I have only done routine maintenance on it and haven't had any major engine problems. I have replaced the tires multiple times, and I did replace the exhaust system. The transmission has held up well (automatic). I have had other minor repairs like fuel pump and some belts/hoses, and brakes.
Cons
The Dakota isn't a top vehicle in terms of mileage (I get approximately 20-22 mpg). I have also had some issues with the speedometer and gas gauges, which weren't working properly when I bought the truck. The heater and A/C work but aren't the best I have ever had. The cab space is limited in terms of leg room. I replaced the radio with a CD player as it didn't have one.
