2005 Dodge Dakota -
Overall very comfortable, does what you need it to do with no thrills. Have had since 2005 and almost 100,000 miles on it. Only work that has been done is change the oil, replaced the tires, replaced the front brakes, and a battery. It has a v6 engine, sort of wished I had a V8. It gets about 17 mpg overall average. It as a club cab, so that while a couple people could sit in the back, it is not very comfortable for after a period of time. It has made many trips getting heavy bags of gravel with no power issue. It does not have much of the electronics and all the goodies that the cars on now have, which makes it very prehistoric with that. But is has always done all the work. The ride is smooth and not much road noise, the paint has had no issues like past dodge trucks with painting an... (more)
Story
We had an ice storm and could not get the door open no matter what, had to wait and wait for the sun to come out so that it would thaw out and able to get to work.
Pros
I have not had any issues with it at all, just changed the oil, tires, brakes and battery since 2005.
Cons
I wish it was a V-8 and a club cab.
1996 Dodge Dakota - Fun little truck.
I bought this truck used from my parents when it was about four years old. It was a great little truck. It was a stick, and I had a great time driving it. It was only a little four cylinder, but it had some good pickup. I didn't take very good care of it and drove it recklessly, but it was easily one of my favorite vehicles I've owned. I owned it for about two years and sold it to my aunt, who drove it until it died about four years ago.
Story
My buddy and I drove down Pacific Coast Highway in the truck, and it was great. We were able to pull over and hop in the bed any time we wanted and watch the sunset.
Pros
I really liked the bench seating. The cab was really small so the bench seat allowed me to fit an extra person when needed or my girlfriend to sit in the middle. I also liked that it was a stick shift. It made it more fun to drive. The stick shift was really easy and was actually my last manual car I've owned. I liked have a truck that I could load stuff on but was small enough to easily drive around in southern California's crazy traffic.
Cons
The cabin was small. It was a bench seating but three people were tight. It was especially tight and awkward driving a stick when there were three people in the cab. Another con would be the people that would ask for help moving or transporting big items because I had truck, even though it was tiny and couldn't pull a lot. It was a truck but not a hauling truck and couldn't haul very much weight.
