2006 Dodge Dakota Owner Ratings & Reviews
Write a Review
2006 Dodge Dakota - Solid, no frills daily driver,
This truck has been really reliable, I purchased it with 59,000 miles when it was 6 years old (2012) and I've owned now for 5 years and it has 108,000 miles on it. The only work that has been done to the truck has been typical maintenance such as brakes and struts. I was looking for a quad cab four wheel drive pickup, and this one was within my budget. I had done reviews and found that this model was very reliable, and it has not disappointed. This is not the truck for someone who likes bells and whistles though, it's just a plain daily driver. It has power windows, mirrors, and seats. Otherwise, it is lacking things like leather seats and a backup camera. Still, I enjoy it quite a bit. It beginning to start to "bubble" (rust forming under the surface) over the rear tires. This is very... (more)
Story
I have had a great time driving my truck in places where you normally couldn't, due to four wheel drive. The truck is "true" four wheel drive, meaning the front wheels are fully locked in (as opposed to all-wheel drive). I wanted to show my son the tree house I had when I grew up, which is about 1/4 mile down a field to the back of my family's property. It was very wet, so I put the truck in f... (more)
Pros
Favorite features are the value for the money, the reliability, and four-wheel drive.
Cons
Biggest cons are that it doesn't have a smooth ride, and uses a lot of gas at only 16 miles per gallon.
2006 Dodge Dakota - Best truck ever!
I bought this truck used. It was a dealer special where one of the salesmen drove it a while. It was in like new condition. It gets great gas mileage for a four-wheel drive truck. I average about 18 miles to the gallon. The truck is very durable. The features on this model are top of the line. I had to replace the manifold exhaust gasket on the drivers side. That is the only major repair I have done. The comfort of this truck is amazing. It rides like a Cadillac. I paid cash for it. The original price was very reasonable. The club cab is small. The seats are very uncomfortable. You have to have someone open the doors for you when you're sitting in the back because of the way the door handles are designed.
Story
I managed to get this truck stuck in our back yard one time. I had it completely covered in mud. I had to get my husband to get it unstuck. He did it quick, because I forgot to put it in four-wheel drive.
Pros
Front seat comfort. The great gas mileage. Durability, tilt steering and leather seats.
Cons
The club cab is too small. Seats are very uncomfortable. No leg room.
