2007 Dodge Caliber - To keep or throw
I thought it would be great for a small family. Thought it would be good on gas and have a good amount of room
Story
Bringing my son home in it. He came home from the hospital in this car and is now going on three and still in the same car. Hopefully not for long.
Pros
The windows are hand crank, which if there is a accident and I need the window, I can rely it will open.
Cons
There was a recall on my sub frame both front and back. It goes through gas like crazy. There's not much room. The windows suck because you can't put them up, if you have small children. It's not four-wheel drive and sucks in winter.
2010 Dodge Caliber - Decent car, so far no real complaints
We bought this car in 2012 and so far have been pretty happy with it. The interior is rather roomy and comfortable and there's ample cargo space. I went to Virginia Beach last year and fit my suitcase, large camera bag, cooler and laptop bag in the back without lowering a seat. The car has a decent sound system. It has Sirius Satellite Radio build into the center console, has a CD player and an auxiliary jack for connecting an MP3 player. It also has a regular cigarette lighter style AC port as well as a regular 120v plug by the arm rest. It seems to get around 27mpg, which is a bit less than we'd like but not a "deal breaker". It handles well although the tires are rather loud... you can very clearly hear them when you drive and it can make it a bit difficult to hear inside the cabin.
Pros
- Very roomy and comfortable interior. - Handles well in all weather
- The Constant Velocity Transmission makes accelerating very smooth. - Ample cargo space.
- Sirius satellite radio is built in.
Cons
- Gas mileage is less than I like
- Tires seem rather noisy
- Rear wiper doesn't clear enough of the rear window
