I originally purchased this car based on the physical appearance. I thought that the car looked really cook, kind of rugged but also sleek. When I originally test drove the vehicle, it was in a neighborhood with a low sped limit, so I was not really able to test it fully. It performed well, I liked that it was a smooth, quiet vehicle. Unfortunately, The car only has two gears, so when I drive on the highway or interstate, My speed maxes out and it slows to a dangerous speed. I swear it scares me every time. I have learned to adjust to the ways of this car, however if I had known how lite the motor is, I would have chosen something else. I went from driving a dodge ram 2500, with a lot of power. It has been a tough transition. The size of this vehicle is decent, however when I had my fi... (more)
Story
This vehicle drove me through the desert on very little gas. super cool. It also had a net divider between the back seat and cargo area, so I could keep my dogs in the back fairly safely.
Pros
I purchased the base model, I don't need all of the bells and whistles. It has very basic luxuries. The paint and undercarriage surprisingly has no rust, top coat still looks really shiny. It gets 30 miles to the gallon usually, which is also very nice. The interior seat fabric is very durable, it is also very easy to maintain and clean.
Cons
As far as mechanical maintenance goes, it developed a knocking sound in the right wheel wee, and no mechanic has ever been able to identify what was causing it. I have had to replace a couple of spark plugs over the last two years, but I drive this car a lot so that does not surprise me.

I bought the vehicle because of its look; I like the hatchback design. I enjoy the outdoors and road tripping, and this vehicle has been perfect. It is rugged and the engine has adequate power for any trouble I find. I was surprised that I average 36 miles to the gallon. I have put 120,000 miles on the vehicle and plan to drive it to the ground. For an intermediate sized car, it does very well transporting four adult males with plenty of room for activities. When it comes to maintenance, the parts that I have replaced such as brakes and a few engine pulleys have been inexpensive. And that is even if I take it to the dealership. Another aspect I love about my car is that someone as mechanically repressed as I am, I have found it to be a very easy car to work on.
Story
I recently put 2500 miles on the car doing a camping road trip along the entirety of the West Coast. Starting 50 miles north of the US/Mexico Boarder in California, I ended my trip at the Canadian boarder in Washington state. 3 weeks of absolute wonderful scenery and weather. And my car fit in everywhere just fine. He (my car) wears his bumper stickers (tattoos) just fine!
Pros
Lots of cargo space and the ability to pretty much drive it anywhere I please. Except for up a mountain side perhaps. It makes camping great. Fits my fishing rods. Has great fuel economy, especially on the highway. Maintenance has been easy on the pocket book. I love the way it looks. I can honestly say that this car has been worth every penny put into it. Also, the stereo sound system is superb; especially important for road trips and tailgate parties.
Cons
Outside of not having a sunroof, I do wish that it was a 6 cylinder vehicle. Sometimes just a little more power might make me less nervous of going over the Rockies. Another small con is that as technology advances in new cars, I find myself sometimes wishing it had more as far as entertainment. But that is an easy fix with a radio upgrade. Another con now is that because it is older, I know have to get the vehicle smog tested per state law before I can register it for another year.
