2008 Dodge Avenger - Mediocre.
The Dodge Avenger is a car, just a car. There is nothing flashy about this vehicle. The car is equipped with a very underpowered engine that gives the driver a slow acceleration. The brake system while very functional, does require frequent brake pad changes. As far as seating, there is limited legroom both in drivers seat as well as rear passenger. However the front passenger does seem to have a little bitt more wiggle room.
Story
I once did not get the car fully in park before exiting the vehicle. It slowly started rolling away from me.
Pros
The Avenger is a "decent" small sedan. The fuel economy, while not best-in-class, does offer ok MPG. The vehicle, compared to other cars I have experience with, offers a wider drivers view with what seems like fewer blind-spots.
Cons
This vehicle, while it seems solid, does require more frequent routine maintenance that other similar cars. Expect frequent brake work as well as Air Conditioning charges. There is plenty of headroom in the car, which is confusing due to the lack of legroom throughout the cabin. Battery replacement is a maddening experience since it is hidden within the wheel wells.
2012 Dodge Avenger - Love my Avenger.
I love the fuel efficiency and the smooth ride. It's fun to drive and performs well.
Story
This is not the vehicle I was planning on buying. My PT Cruiser broke down, and the mechanic recommended I get a new car rather than fixing the Cruiser. I was planning on just looking that day -- possibly buying a Chrysler 300. Instead, the dealer talked me into the Avenger, which was actually cheaper. Even funnier -- it was red, just like the other cars we own.
Pros
I love the smooth ride and gas efficiency. I also love the sunroof, though I rarely have it open. I do at least have the "shade" open.
Cons
I wish the seatbelts in the back were adjustable. I'm on the short side, and the shoulder belt cuts across my throat when I play passenger. I have to keep readjusting it.
