2012 Dodge Avenger - One of worst cars mechanically
The Dodge Avenger 2012 was a rush purchase. If I had looked into it and thought more about it, that car would of stayed behind. Now at 95k miles, it's like every lil thing is wrong. The battery connection keeps coming out, leaving me stuck at various places. I had it replaced and it is still happening. To even get to the battery is crazy. You got to take whole front bumper off and then a bunch of other things. Takes over 30 min to get out. The A/C needs a tune-up. It blows warm air when idling even at a light. Gets cold only when driving. I just replaced the fan and thermostat too. The car is just not worth the cost to repair it. But for a local driving car, it's okay and comfy. Story
Everyone knows my car because of the rims, tints, racing stripe, and my dog... My dog sits in front seat waiting for me to return. She also will honk the horn if I take too long with her head. People get a kick outta her. I call her my Avenger Uber Driver. I have a photo too.
Pros
As for pros, it's a comfy ride. Seats are roomy and soft. Backseat has ample leg room for the kids but not full-grown adults. Fits four comfortably and five uncomfortably. That is my favorite part of the car and that it rides well. It gives a smooth ride. Gas mileage is average.
Cons
The negative is this car must be a mechanics nightmare. Especially when getting to the battery. All other cars I owned had a battery on top and accessible. This is behind the front bumper on the bottom under stuff. My key got stuck in ignition. I went to Lowes, and they don't even make this car key. So that says a lot too.
2013 Dodge Avenger - Hated Dodge before and I still hate them
I never liked the company Dodge, and I was in desperate need so I bought it anyway. I love the look of the Avenger and the size for a family. I was completely shocked at how comfy the car is to take long trips. That is the only thing I like about it. Everything is going wrong with this car, and I should of known better. I been a Honda/Acura owner my entire life, and I should of stayed that way...
Story
I have aftermarket rims, and everyone seems to look at me in the car. It has the stripes on the side too. So it looks nice. My dog comes on a lot of rides with me too. She actually hangs out the window and the neighbors know us from the car and the dog.
Pros
It is comfortable to drive. I have a bad back and neck, but I can still drive this car on a nine-hour road trip and be fine. That says a lot. The gas mileage isn't bad on a long highway trip either.
Cons
It seems everything that can go wrong does in this car. The windshield wiper motor is gone now at 90k. Before that I had an electrical problem throughout the car. That was a nightmare to figure out. The battery is very hard to get to. You have to take off the front bumper to get to it. A 30-minute process. Whoever made the layout is stupid. The passenger airbag light goes on and off for no reason, and it's very annoying. The other day for some reason the hose blew up to the radiator. Mechanic cannot tell me why.
