2005 Chrysler Sebring Owner Ratings & Reviews

2005 Chrysler Sebring - Good for first vehicle, but beware of recalled parts
I like the gas mileage of this vehicle. And I like the way in which it handles steering. The air-conditioner cools down quickly and the vehicle runs fairly well considering how many miles I have on it. My vehicle has 129,000 miles on it, and it runs well still. It is a little bit of an expensive you call, and that registration for it and Iowa as expensive. The trunk is roomie. I am able to see it four adults in addition to myself in this vehicle. The cross body seatbelts in the back make my passengers and myself feel safe. As I babysit my nephews and nieces and cousins quite often I feel safe knowing that there is a latch in the back of the window area to attach and anchor car seat straps. I also feel safe knowing that I can lock my windows so that it prevents my nieces and nephews and... (more)
Story
I've gone on several very fun road trips in this vehicle to Minnesota, to Wisconsin, to Illinois, to Missouri, and every time I have always had a really good time making sure that all of my friends and family are safe. I enjoy driving this vehicle, and having multiple audio inputs is really nice.
Pros
I love the gas mileage on this vehicle. I can usually get between 30 and 32 on the interstate, and 20 to 25 in town. This makes living in the city with lots of stoplights less expensive because I don't have to fill out quite as often. I drive around 100 miles every weekend to go to church twice because I play and I appreciate how many got some miles I get. Another thing that I really like is the anchors in the back window for car seats for my nieces and nephews and cousins. I appreciate knowing that they are safe. I really like the child safety lock ability on the windows. I enjoy how room... (more)
Cons
One thing I don't like about this vehicle is how expensive it is to fix. There've been a number of recalled parts. And I have found that it has been very expensive to fix. When my alternator went out, my transmission was also faulty and I had broken wheel bearings. This is a recall part, apparently, on the 2005 Chrysler Sebring sedan and I'm a little disappointed in that. I'm also having a bit of a trouble with my oil tracking gauge. It's constantly telling me, even after I have changed my oatmeal, then I need to change my oil. Sometimes this causes my RPMs to run quickly and this gives me... (more)
2005 Chrysler Sebring - Poor quality. Basically a recyclable car.
The pros of the car are as follows: the vehicle is affordable, its gets good to great gas mileage, and if you want to just have a sporty look with a convertible top then this is for you. The cons are as follows: the car has many low quality items incorporated throughout the car. The shock struts are not robust enough for the front wheel drive front end. You can feel every bump and if going over speed bumps go slow or you'll scrape under the front end. Front end tie rods are not adjustable after manufacturing they are fixed rods set at the factory. They cannot be lubed nor adjusted for alignments. Requires total front end r&r. Car sits to low to the ground hard to get in and out of. Back seat is worth less. Very uncomfortable and cramped. Trunk is small and basically worthless. Front tw... (more)
Story
Driving down the highway. It started to rain and the convertible top ripped away at the seam, and water was spraying in all over us. So we never made it out for a nice dinner out with friends. Had to go home and change.
Pros
Gas mileage and initial purchase price.
Cons
Poor padded seats, front end not robust enough for front wheel drive, sits way too low. All parts in general are substandard.
