Summary
The 2019 Chrysler 300 is a full-size sedan that is part of Chrysler's second 300 generation introduced in 2011. Despite its age, the 300 boasts credible comfort and power characteristics. These characteristics make it a competitive choice against competing sedans such as the Ford Taurus, Chevy Impala, Toyota Avalon and Buick LaCrosse.
However, the 2019 Chrysler 300 features very few changes over the last few years, and it's losing ground to up-and-comers like the Honda Accord, have caught up in terms of cabin space and luxury features. That said, the 2019 Chrysler 300 is still an excellent choice for those who prioritize power, size, luxury and comfort for a less-than-luxury price in their full-size sedans.
Coming in five trim levels — the 300 Touring, 300 Touring L, 300S, 300 Limited and 300C — the 2019 300 has models to suit all budgets. Though not the most fuel-efficient vehicle in its class, the 300 does offer robust powertrain options that excel in other areas. A powerful and well-reviewed Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 engine powers standard 300 models, while a 5.7-liter V8 is standard on the 300C and optional on the 300S, a rare option on a mainstream sedan. Also unusual is the rear-wheel-drive setup on the 300, though all-wheel-drive is available with the V6. All 2019 Chrysler 300 models use an eight-speed automatic transmission with a built-in manual shift mode.
As part of the second 300 generation introduced in 2011, the 2019 Chrysler 300 features very few new changes from previous model years. Aside from a few minor cosmetic changes, everything remains the same from last year. That said, this year's Chrysler 300 still leads the pack in terms of overall ride quality. You'll be hard-pressed to find a quieter or smoother full-size sedan at the 300's price points. The 2019 Chrysler 300 also features a solid infotainment screen with the latest amenities, adding to its ability to deliver excellent comfort for driver and passengers alike. Great for commuters and small families, the Chrysler 300 is yet again a formidable full-size sedan for 2019.
Exterior
The 2019 Chrysler 300 does not depart from the iconic Chrysler 300 appearance. Like its predecessors, it features strong lines, a wide profile, and a rather small greenhouse. Both elegant and a bit imposing, the 300 measures 199 inches (just over 16.5 feet) in length, 75 inches in width, and 59 inches in height, making it one of the largest full-size sedans out there based on exterior measurements.
The 300 starts with 17-inch wheels, standard on the base 300 Touring and Touring L models, though 18-inch wheels are available for RWD models only via the Driver Convenience Group package. The 300S features 19-inch wheels with performance tires (the latter of which come with AWD models only). The 300 Limited and the 300C both features 20-inch wheels.
Chrysler also offers Chrome Appearance and Sport Appearance packages (not available with the Driver Convenience Group package) on the entry-level 300 Touring model, both of which feature 20-inch wheels and exclusive exterior accents.
Interior Quality and Comfort
The 2019 Chrysler 300 features a roomy cabin outfitted with excellent materials and features on both the seats and the dash. Reviewers at Kelley Blue Book found the 300's dash design to be "handsome" and praised its cutting-edge infotainment system. Highlights upfront include a large 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, classic analog clock face, easy-to-use rotary transmission selector, and some of the best sound-system options out there.
Upholstery in the 2019 Chrysler 300 is also considered high-quality by reviewers at Kelley Blue Book and elsewhere. The base 300 Touring and Touring L models feature cloth upholstery available in either black or white. The 300S and Limited get leather upholstery standard and heated and ventilated front seats (available on the 300S, standard on the Limited), while the 300C gets upgraded leather upholstery.
Seating for five is both spacious and comfortable, with ample room for five adults. All models feature a 60/40 split-folding rear seat standard. A dual-pane panoramic sunroof is optional for all models except the 300 Touring.
Utility and Practicality
A great commuter vehicle and family sedan, the Chrysler 300 has room to spare. Boasting a spacious 106.3 cubic feet of passenger volume and an impressive 16.3 cubic feet of trunk space, the 2019 Chrysler 300 can comfortably accommodate five adult passengers and their belongings. The 2019 Chrysler 300 also comes with a host of interior storage areas, including rear armrests with cupholders (standard) and cargo net (optional on all models except the 300 Touring). A powered trunk lid release is standard on all models.
The Chrysler 300 also has limited towing capabilities, a great feature for drivers needing to tow small trailers. All 300 models are rated to tow up to 1,000 pounds, and feature trailer sway dampening standard.
Technology and Infotainment
Though it received very few updates from last year's model, the 2019 Chrysler 300 still features some of the industry's best in-car technology and infotainment features. Powered by Chrysler's lauded Uconnect system, the base 300 Touring model comes with a well-reviewed an 8.4-inch touchscreen interface, and a six-speaker sound system with two USB ports and satellite radio, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and 4G LTE Wi-Fi. Other welcome standard features on the base 300 Touring model include a power-adjustable driver's seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and dual-zone climate control.
Moving up trim levels, the 300S gets all of the features of the 300 Touring plus heated and power-adjustable front seats and a universal garage door opener (the latter of which is optional on 300 Touring and Touring L models). The Limited adds driver-seat memory settings, a power-adjustable and heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and an auto-dimming driver-side mirror. GPS navigation is optional on all models except the base Touring. An Alpine Audio Group sound system with nine speakers is optional on the 300S only, while a sound system with a Harman Kardon GreenEdge amplifier is available on Limited and 300C models only. Integrated voice commands and Bluetooth connectivity are standard on all 2019 Chrysler 300 models.
Safety and Driving Assistance
The 2019 Chrysler 300 performed reasonably well in major safety tests. In tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the 2019 Chrysler 300 earned "Good" scores in all categories except ease of use for the LATCH child seat connections, where it received an "Acceptable," Small Overlap Front: Driver Side Crashworthiness, where it earned a "Marginal," and Headlights, where it earned a "Poor" across all trim levels.
The 2019 300 earned an overall safety rating of 4 out of 5 stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). In individual categories, the 2019 Chrysler 300 earned 4 out of 5 stars in Frontal Crash performance, 5 stars in side crash performance and 4 stars in rollover performance.
To maximize safety and driving convenience, the 2019 Chrysler 300 comes equipped with a host of advanced safety and driver assistance features. Standard safety features on all Chrysler 300 models include advanced multistage front airbags, driver-inflatable knee bolster airbags, front passenger seat belt alert, traction control, electronic stability control, and electronic roll mitigation. Driver assistance features on the base Touring model include a rearview camera, keyless entry and ignition, heated mirrors, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
The 300S adds a sport-tuned suspension (RWD only), remote start, and LED foglights, while the Limited adds these plus an auto-dimming driver-side mirror. Finally, the 300C adds adaptive xenon headlights. Available on all trim levels except the base Touring trim levels is Chrysler's SafetyTec Plus package, which includes front and rear parking sensors, automatic wipers, automatic high beams, lane keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and a forward collision warning system with automatic emergency braking.
Driving Experience
The driving experience is where the 2019 Chrysler 300 truly excels compared to its rivals. Reviewers from Kelley Blue Book and Edmunds praised the 300 for its quiet cabin and incredible smoothness, even on bumpy roads. Though the cabin itself is spacious and comfortable, visibility could be better, as the 300 has small windows relative to its large cabin size. In terms of power, however, few full-size sedans (if any) have the 2019 Chrysler 300 beat. That is due to what's under the hood.
Base power for the Chrysler 300 comes from its 3.6-liter V6 engine, which gets 292 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. V6-powered 300S versions get a power bump to 300 horsepower and 264 lb.-ft. of torque. Standard on the 300C and optional on the 300S is the even more powerful 5.7-liter Hemi V8, which generates 363 horsepower and 394 lb.-ft. of torque. Rear-wheel-drive is standard across models, and all-wheel-drive is optional on all V6 models. All 300 vehicles use an eight-speed automatic transmission with a built-in manual shift mode. Transmissions paddle shifters are installed on all models except the Touring and Touring L.
Fuel Efficiency
Though fuel efficiency is not the 300's strong suit, it still delivers decent fuel economy numbers for its size and power. Chrysler 300 models featuring the 3.6-liter V6 engine and RWD get an EPA-estimated 19 mpg in the city, 30 mpg on the highway, and 23 mpg combined when using regular gasoline. (Those numbers drop to 14 mpg in the city, 22 mpg on the highway, and 17 mpg combined when using E85 fuel.) Models featuring AWD get 18 mpg in the city, 27 mpg on the highway, and 21 mpg combined when using regular gasoline. (Those numbers drop to 13 mpg in the city, 20 mpg on the highway, and 16 mpg combined when using E85 fuel.) V8-powered Chrysler 300 models featuring the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine and RWD get an EPA-estimated 16 mpg in the city, 25 mpg on the highway, and 19 mpg combined (with regular gasoline).
These numbers put the 2019 Chrysler 300 behind sedans of a similar size, such as the Hyundai Sonata, Toyota Avalon and Honda Accord. However, the 300 offers more horsepower and more cylinders than some of those vehicles.

Value
When compared against competing full-size sedans such as the Toyota Avalon, Ford Taurus, Dodge Charger and Chevy Impala, the 2019 Chrysler 300 offers several advantages. Though not the most fuel-efficient in the bunch, the 300 is one of the most powerful, making it an excellent choice for those who want to drive fast and may need to tow light trailers. The 300 also offers a larger cabin than nearly all competing full-size sedans, making it a great choice for carpoolers, rideshare drivers, and those who need to accommodate several large passengers comfortably.
Lastly, the 2019 Chrysler 300 offers intuitive designs, high-quality materials, a host of luxury features unavailable in many competing full-size sedans. Price-wise, the 300 starts about $1,000 more than the Chevrolet Impala and Ford Taurus, but several thousand less than the Kia Cadenza and Toyota Avalon. However, some drivers may be adequately served by vehicles like the Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata or even Toyota Camry, as they all offer lots of features and similar levels of performance with their upgraded engine choices at a generally lower cost.
Both comfortable and powerful, the 2019 Chrysler 300 is a feature-loaded full-size sedan great for professionals and families alike.
