2014 Chevrolet Sonic - The Sonic is an ok car
I love that the vehicle was the cheapest version of a five seat car that Chevrolet had, yet it feels almost like I'm in a luxury vehicle (or at least in the future) with its Sirius radio and digital controls. The car itself is very cute and good looking, and I've even had a man at the grocery store compliment me on it. It even emails me if the tire pressure is low.
However, the seat for driving is very uncomfortable and unadjustable. I needed to use a back support or it hurts my back, which is not something I noticed in the lot. Sometimes it hurts my back even with a back support.
Story
A man parking at Target to shop with his young son complimented how cute this car was, and asked me what kind it was.
Pros
I love that it's small and cute, has great fuel economy, and has a fancy computerized display. It emails you if the tires have low air pressure. It shows you an estimate of how many miles per gallon average you are driving at that moment, and can also show you how many miles you can drive on your remaining gas. It even comes with a Sirius radio, though the subscription for using it is temporary and expires. The bumpers are plastic, so even if you scratch the paint off there, they won't rust. Cons
The driver's seat does not recline and the bottom of the seat can't adjust up or down either, only backwards and forwards. It is an extremely uncomfortable seat and hurts my back if I drive for an extended period of time, sometimes even if I'm using a back support. The car is also very small nosed, and my husband's long legs barely fit even if the seat is all the way back. We always had very small cars, so I didn't think it would be a problem, but he said this one somehow had less room even compared to the other small cars (Hyundai Accent, Chevy Aveo, etc), despite having a longer profile ... 2013 Chevrolet Sonic -
I would highly recommend this vehicle to any commuters looking for a good value vehicle. This is not a car that offers a ton of bells and whistles. It is not a luxury vehicle. Rather, it is more of a utility vehicle. I have driven it to work every day for 4 years, plus weekend driving and occasional road trips. It has 70,000+ miles, and the only problem I have ever had is a dead battery. It is built well, no rattles or squeaks after many years of driving. It handles well in small amounts of snow and rain. It cleans up easily, both interior and exterior. It is not a large vehicle, particularly the trunk. I once attempted to fit a large painting in the trunk, and it would not fit. It is comfortable to sit in for long periods of time, making it ideal for longer commutes.
Story
I drove this vehicle from Washington, DC, to New York City. I had to drive through a lot of traffic and tight spots. This vehicle is very easy to handle and has excellent visibility.
Pros
Great gas mileage, 25-30MPG. Very reliable. Easy to maneuver and fit in parking spaces. There is a USB port in the glove box, easy to charge electronics. Accurate gas gauge, tells you exactly how many miles you have left.
Cons
The vehicle is small, driver and passenger sit fairly close together, and there is no center console. The trunk is particularly small, fitting in furniture, paintings, etc. is difficult. Minimal extra features – no heated seats, no extra storage, etc.
