1991 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - Timeless
This is a timeless truck - it never goes out of style. The 1991 Silverado is a great truck. Not only does it still look good, it is a solid runner. I purchased this truck in January and couldn't be happier. I purchased it with 80k miles, and it still rides like a beauty. The frame is solid, and I have only had to do minimal work. The back lift needed new shocks, and the dashboard has a rattle that needs to be fixed, but it isn't urgent. The car has plenty of space inside - there is full rear seating ample room. The bed of the truck is perfect for fitting large loads. Gas mileage isn't bad - it is comparable to any other full sized car. I haven't taken it on the highway yet, so this is in reference only for city mileage.
Story
I have done some modifications to this truck. Most notably, I repainted it, had the windows tinted and had air lift put into it. The truck rises and drops to the ground with the touch of a button. I took it to a car show a month ago and won third prize.
Pros
The size is great, but the solid design is my favorite part of this truck. This truck is also perfect for customization, which I love.
Cons
I think the worst part about this truck is also the best part - the customization. It's easy to go overboard on a truck like this.
1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - This truck has 360K and still going strong!
Original motor, mechanic owned, within the Rust Belt (Milwaukee) and she gets us where we need to go! This truck is so easy to maintain, and with the extended cab we get plenty of room for our gear, dog and groceries. Parts are easily found and, being a GM model, a lot of the maintenance can be done yourself. And the loads she hauls! We've loaded up rotors, quarter panels, etc. to take to recycling and she can handle all the pounds we pack on her! Highly recommend this make and model.
Story
We took this truck recently to Ohio to Cedar Point and she performed like a champ. The extra room in the extended cab held all of our luggage and we only had to stop once each way to gas up.
Pros
Good mileage, great engine life with proper maintenance.
Cons
Seating can be a bit uncomfortable, cup holder squeaks as it flips out from the dash.
