2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Hybrid - Excellent truck for urban living
For a family that wants to save on gasoline consumption but still have the durability and usefulness of a pickup, I highly recommend giving a hybrid truck a serious look. As a young married couple with a new baby in the house we needed a vehicle that would provide the safety bubble around our child, as well as provide us with ability to take trips and excursions a young couple would take for fun. Understanding that the majority of my life in the city would be spent in traffic jams, the fact that this hybrid truck shuts the gas engine down and moves the transmission to the hybrid battery is very comforting knowing that my time moving slowly through traffic would not be eating through my gas budget. Spacious and durable, I was able to take it on several long distance trips to other states with plenty of gear that did not need to be placed on the roof. Well built, in six years with regular maintenance I have yet to have a major engine problem. The "Economy" gauge on the dash allows me a visual reminder to adjust my driving habits in the moment, if my gas efficiency is foremost in mind.

Being in the Fire Dept, I was able to have my vehicle available for inspection by various fire crews to get familiar with hybrid vehicle. As firefighters are usually first to arrive and help with vehicle accidents, the specialized nature of a hybrid vehicle has many quirks that must be recognized and taken into consideration so as not to make more problems in a potentially life threatening situation. While the manufacturers provided Fire Depts with a class room type training, nothing beats having a vehicle in front of you to look over without being pressed for time or access to see where unexpected hazards may arise.
GPS installed with option to upgrade connection with OnStar system.
Top of the line Audio/Speaker system without aftermarket items.
XM radio ready.
Better fuel efficiency for a pickup truck.
Flexibility for off-road access if you so desire.
Chrome accents make the vehicle look very sharp.
The Menu option on the display allows you to decipher what is going on with the vehicle, telling you when it has switched to battery and when the engine is running. Also provides a "wow" factor for your passengers who may not have had the experience of a hybrid vehicle.

Leather seats came standard and help to keep the vehicle clean with minimal use of chemicals.
Motorized side mirrors allow them to be folded in when parked to allow for a few more inches of space.
Sitting in traffic no longer causes as much stress due to much less gas being used.
The switch over from battery to gas has a noticeable delay (1-2 seconds) that can be hindering if you are in a hurry.
I live in a hot region of the United States and have noticed the time of battery use significantly decreases as the temperature increases, making gasoline consumption increase.
I believe this next con is a GM issue rather than specific to my vehicle - the GPS began to have problems around year 2 (4 years since release of vehicle) of me owning it. It would default on every start to east coast (I live in Texas), taking varying amounts of time to display my current location. ... (more)

I believe this next con is a GM issue rather than specific to my vehicle - the GPS began to have problems around year 2 (4 years since release of vehicle) of me owning it. It would default on every start to east coast (I live in Texas), taking varying amounts of time to display my current location. At the same time this started happening, my "saved addresses" would disappear every time I started the vehicle, and not return. I believe this was not specific to my vehicle because we ended up buying my wife a used Tahoe that was having the same GPS issues.
I would consider it to be a luxury vehicle because of the advanced technology, relative to stock pickup trucks, therefore any items that may break or deteriorate with time will be more expensive to replace/repair. So keep that in consideration.
2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Hybrid - Solid-built truck. Chevy doesn't disappoint.
I like how high the truck sits compared to older trucks. The new makeover feels tough and strong. The interior seats are roomy and spacious. The V8 engine has great hauling potential and get up and go. The larger tires can make the truck go off-road with 4x4 if needed. The back has enough seating for three with rear side doors. The back can fit a multitude of stuff from lumber, concrete, fishing gear or whatever needs to be put back there. Built strong and tough, the exterior looks great and feels like driving a modern vehicle.

I enjoy taking the truck off road; we have to go two-tracking down a small path to our favorite fishing spot, so sticking it in 4x4 and going through the woods is a breeze with a lot of laughs throughout the way.

My top positive things are the power seats and that I can comfortably see and position myself well. I like the power the engine has. The large V8 has great power and towing capabilities, especially with the built-in tow package. Lastly, I like the four doors. No more squeezing in from the front seats. They fold up and down easily to fit six very easily.

I do not like the cab that is on it, even though it's cosmetic and can be taken off. It's difficult to see out the back. The headlights are bright, which is a good thing, but other cars think my brights are on and I get flashed a lot. Only issue with the V8 it takes a moment to get it going if you needed a fast start, but it's not a race car, so I don't have too much of an issue with it.

2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Hybrid - In love with my Silverado
My favorite thing about my 2016 Silverado is the size. I previously drove a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze and felt like I was sitting on the ground. It was very noisy, and you could feel every bump or rock in the road. With the Silverado I get a quiet and smooth ride. It comes with a larger screen for the MyLink radio function, but less goofy options like my Cruze had. I love that there is plenty of room in this truck for me, my husband, and two kids. It's great that their knees don't get smashed into the front seats and drive us crazy. Another great addition to newer Silverado's is the extra step added to the rear bumper for short people who need to get into the bed of the truck. There are a ton of buttons on this vehicle, and, even after reading the entire owners manual, I still don't know wh... (more)

The first day we got this truck my husband and I drove to our first state fair to see our favorite band. We shouldn't have even got a hotel room. There was plenty of room to sleep in the cab or in the bed comfortably.

Very quiet and completely smooth ride. Big enough for the entire family. Lots of options available.

Remote start only stays on for ten minutes unless you click the remote again after 60 seconds. I would rather it stay on 20 minutes like every other car I've owned did with their remote starts.
