1999 Chevrolet Malibu - Very reliable vehicle!
This car has a very nice structure with the comforts of its four-door design, its hatchback which can be popped from under the dashboard, and its almost utter lack of blind spots. The brakes have always done well, the gear shift only had to be replaced once, and occasional maintenance and repairs keep this car in good running condition in spite of its age. It drives well and gets decent mileage; I drive mostly streets instead of highways. It's got a lot of miles on it but is still doing fine.
An added feature is that this car has tinted rear windows, which really help with privacy and blocking the sun and heat a bit.
The trunk is fairly roomy and can be loaded with a fair amount of items.
The Malibu is well known among Chevy's long line of cars, and I would not mind having a new... (more)
Story
I accidentally ran the car up over a cement block in a hospital lot parking space and it got caught on a metal stud sticking out of the block. I had to get hospital security to come and help get the car unstuck!
Pros
Nice build; tinted rear windows; roomy trunk; four doors.
Cons
Did not come with any kind of music system; former owner had to add one on.
2011 Chevrolet Malibu - Most dependable car.
I bought this vehicle because of its safety rating. It is a wide car and feels very stable and smooth while driving. I liked the tan color and the wood-like trim. I was involved in two separate accidents, and although you can see physical damage, it kept me and my family safe. There was no drivability issues even after that.
Story
The trunk has a lot of space. I mentioned to a friend that I could hide a body in it and still have room for a stroller and all the baby stuff. I got a very weird look.
Pros
It was surprisingly good on gas, even for a heavier and wider car. It had an excellent digital radio with satellite radio. I also enjoyed that the seats and mirrors were electric, making it easy for me to fix what my husband adjusted. It was also great that I could tell my tire pressure with a push of a button. My favorite feature, and ultimate selling point, was the remote start. It was so convenient to warm up the car before taking the kids to school.
Cons
There weren't too many negatives. My top one would have to be that the keyless entry was subpar. The vehicle failed to recognize the remote after a while, even with a new one. And even though the tire pressure button was great, it did sometimes give false readings, especially after a tire rotation. I had to return to the shop to have it fixed on more than one occasion.
