2007 Chevrolet Malibu - Great car for the money.
I bought this car in 2014 after I graduated high school. I had a budget of only $5,000 but managed to get a good financing deal on a used Malibu for $7,500. It was really well taken care of and had 61k miles on it at the time I bought it. It was super smooth to drive, the shocks and brakes were new, and I had never had a car that performed well like that. Inside the car was pretty much immaculate and I felt like I was driving a newer car.

My husband drove me to the hospital when I went into labor in this car! I was so concerned that I was going to have my water break in the car, but luckily we made it in time. Every time I pass by the hospital in my car I think of that. It brings back a lot of memories, so it'll be hard to sell or trade in the car when that time comes.

I loved how smooth it drove and how luxurious it felt in the beginning, even being 7 years old. I liked that I didn't have to compromise anything that I wanted. It's an easy car to drive as well, I've never had an issue getting it into parking spaces or parallel parking when I lived in the city. The gas mileage is amazing and sometimes I can last weeks filling up only once or twice. It's a safe car for my family, and it's no frills attached. The heat and air work amazing and even having it for 4 years, it still looks and feels the way it did when I bought it. I think that when I'm able to ... (more)

I think that Chevy is a reputable company and so far I've not had any issues with any of their cars. I also can understand how cars can age and look "vintage" after a couple of years, and even outdated, but I think the style of the car is just timeless. You see a lot of Malibus on the road, even older than the one that I have. When my daughter is old enough to drive, I'll definitely be buying her a Malibu, or another Chevy car. Parts are cheap on them too, so repair work is easy and mostly inexpensive.
There are only a few issues that I've found with the Malibu. One is that in the winter time, it is terrible to control. I've found myself in a total of two accidents because the tires/brakes were way too finicky and I've lost control of the car. I live in a state where it snows a bunch in the winter time, so it's disconcerting to have this happen. The axle in the car has gone bad twice now, and so have the brakes. They were easy and cheap to repair, but it's still sort of frustrating that the same two things would fall apart not once but twice.

2007 Chevrolet Malibu - Awesome but outdated.
My first three cars were all Oldsmobile Cutlass Sierra models. I absolutely loved that car! My Malibu is a really great car, though, and I am happy that I chose it. I took it over from my mother who didn't like it because she said that it was "outdated". Compared to my mid- 90's Oldsmobile, it wasn't to me at all! However, the more time went on, I realized that it is outdated, and it became something that I can never get over when I am driving it. I do think though, that no matter what year a car is from, outdated or not, that safety is the most important factor, and this car makes me feel very safe! I know it is ironic because I said that I feel the car is outdated, but one of the things that I dislike very much about the vehicle is that it has a major problem with the dash- the speed... (more)

I know it is ironic because I said that I feel the car is outdated, but one of the things that I dislike very much about the vehicle is that it has a major problem with the dash- the speedometer is crazy, the gas tank gauge says empty at all times, even when it has just been filled, and all the lights are on all the time. I spent more money than I have trying to fix problems that the dash told me it had when in fact it had none of those problems at all. The problem is with the car's computer, which means to fix the car entirely would cost more than it would do to buy a reliable and safe older, used vehicle. I love this car but it sure has put me through a lot and as sad as it is to say, I cannot wait until I am able to get a new one!
Not exactly fun, but we once were carrying home a party-sized pizza for a birthday party, and we ran over a dead skunk on the road and when we opened the trunk to take out the pizza, the trunk, box, and pizza were ruined by the overwhelming scent of skunk spray. YAK!

Safety- this car feels, drives, and appears safe in all aspects.
Model- I love the shape of the car- I don't like the more modern (2000's and up) cars that are huge, I am more into the smaller cars like Focus and VWs but the look of this car is very nice.
Room- it is very roomy!

A few times I have had an issue with the back left door not closing, the latch has gone wonky. It wasn't hit nor was I in an accident, it just stopped closing one day and then a month later got better with no explanation.
The computer in the car is totally screwy and it makes all the dash information and gauges go insane. Because of the fact that the speedometer is nuts and the fact that the gas tank always says empty, I have had to write down how much gas the tank holds, then add how much I put into the car, and then subtract what I assume are the approximately miles of every trip from t... Because of the fact that the speedometer is nuts and the fact that the gas tank always says empty, I have had to write down how much gas the tank holds, then add how much I put into the car, and then subtract what I assume are the approximately miles of every trip from that number EVERY time I use the car, just to know approximately where the tank is really at. It's crazy annoying!
