2006 Chevrolet Malibu - Too many recalls and issues.

The car was reasonably stylish, but like most Chevy vehicles, I have found it to have poor visibility (It should be noted I am 6'6" tall). The car did, surprisingly, have adequate leg room, although it prevented anyone other than small children from sitting behind me. The biggest issue with the car was the recalls and the "phantom problems" that randomly occurred. The worst was when you turned the wheel at a corner or worse while coming onto a highway/freeway and then aggressively pressed the gas peddle, the car would stall out.
Story
I remember going to the store with my wife and, being Southern Florida, it had started pouring rain from the time we had left the house to the time we got to the store. Rather than get soaked, we stayed in the car and decided to wait it out. While we were waiting, we had one of the best talks since we first started dating...also in that car. It brought back really good memories to curl up in t... (more)
Pros
Stylish, adequate interior. Not ashamed to be seen in it. The trunk was roomy and had a lot of storage space. It got decent gas mileage for a 2006 V6. It had a fair amount of leg-room for the driver at least. The auto-lights function and auto-lock/auto-unlock when you changed from park to any gear are also positives.
Cons
The worst was the performance of the engine and the A/C system (southern Florida). Count on taking it to a mechanic at least once a year (in 2017). The visibility for the driver (at my height) was poor and really dangerous. I had to add the additional little mirrors to the side-view mirrors in order to prevent any accidents. The quality of everything, except the interior, is much less than any of the Toyotas I have owned (before and since).

This is the second Malibu that I have owned and it is worlds ahead of the previous generations. The new body style is sharp looking and catches the attention of people all around. Often I have been complimented on it. The power that the vehicle has adequate for the given class of vehicle, it could be peppier, but it is still satisfactory and has great fuel economy to boast. What really wows me (still after having it for almost 2 years) and others is the interior. It looks as though it is from the future with wrap around and ambient aqua lighting, a large touch screen in the center, and cockpit style seating for both the driver and passenger. I really have no dislikes for this vehicle. Its quality is great, the ride is very smooth and quiet, and I've yet to have any problems with it.
Story
I have a passion for driving and have created so many fond memories with my Malibu. I have even referred to her as the Coolibu. It is a bond that I share with my car and the countless hours we spend together show. It seems to always attract attention, sometimes good, sometimes bad ;)
Pros
The pros of this car are: The quality of the build (much higher than previous generation Chevrolet's), the futuristic and comfortable interior, the sharp look of the car on the outside (I personally think its an excellently designed vehicle), and the fuel economy (I average about 30-32 mpg with the 2.5L engine). It also has a great range between fill-ups, 500-650 miles, a feature I enjoy. Finally, it has great safety features like lane keep assist, crash alert systems, advanced airbags everywhere... the list goes on.
Cons
There are only two negatives that I have about the vehicle: The back seating area is a little small, however, the amount of available room in the front far exceeds any car or SUV I have been in. Very, very roomy, leg-wise, in the front. The other negative is that the model that came out after includes newer features that I would have enjoyed, like start/stop engine technology, blind spot monitor system, and a back-seating area redesign to provide more room.

They had the widest variety of cars in stock. Didn't have to wait long for service and have good history with them.

The salesman was easy to talk to and listened to what I wanted and didn't try to sell something I didn't want.
