2015 Chevrolet Malibu - Sturdy, stable, and attractive
One of my considerations when purchasing a car is how comfortable it is when I sit in it (seat comfort, ability to manage mirrors and adjust the seat forward, backward, up and down). I also note the attractiveness of the interior and exterior and how I "feel" about it. I also look at the mileage and age of the vehicle and drive it to determine if there are any obvious problems.
Pros
The seating fits my body and was easy to adjust. The mirrors were easily adjustable so that my vision included the "blind" spot other vehicles may be in. The color of the car was an attractive neutral color, and the interior was "classy" looking. The center console had two cup holders and two other wells that would hold a cell phone, sunglasses, pencils and pens. The car also had a back-up camera, which was helpful in keeping an eye on close objects and the outline for backing allowed more precise backing into parking places.
Cons
Not easy to look back to see oncoming traffic when trying to merge into a lane. The back post blocks a good view. The camera is a help in certain situations but is also a distraction in other situations. Some people feel that if they are watching the camera, they are safe in backing--however, I find that I need to use my mirrors and look left and right before backing out of a spot. The camera does not cover a vehicle approaching from the side. I do not like the "stop and go" feature where the engine turns off when the brakes are applied (like at a stop light). This may be saving a bi... (more)
2006 Chevrolet Malibu - Practical car.
I own a 2006 Chevy Malibu that I purchased in 2007 with less than 30,000 miles and still under factory warranty. First off I feel like I got a great deal on this car, purchased from a Chevrolet dealership, I was offered an extended warranty that I am more than grateful I took advantage of. Throughout my years with my Malibu it has taken me many miles on lots of trips all around the southeast United States. At some point my steering column went out and luckily it was replaced completely free of charge to me, shortly after that there was a recall on this same spot. If not for the warranty I believe I would have a much more negative review for this car.
Story
The best memory I have with the Malibu is driving across the Southeastern US, from Florida to Texas. I believe it was a 14 hours drive.
Pros
A pro, to me, for the Malibu is definitely size. This car is incredibly easy to park, drive and maneuver. I love how this car locks, if you press the lock button 1 time it allows you to open other doors and not lock the car until all doors are closed. If somehow a door gets left open (cracked open) and the doors don't like, the alarm will still sound until you insert the key (or use keyless entry). I love the size of the backseat. I have 2 children and their car seats fit back there with plenty of room to spare. Also, this Malibu has incredible gas mileage, I have driven from New Orleans, ... (more)
Cons
The 2006 Malibu has a horrific blind spot in the front of the car. Also, just before 100,000 miles (When my warranty expired) the check engine light came on, when I took it to the Chevrolet dealership I was told the car was "designed" to have the check engine light on at that point because of the amount of miles. Given the age of the Malibu and all that we have been through together the Malibu is a great car.
