2001 Chevrolet Malibu - A Good Economic Choice
The 2001 Chevy Malibu's are pretty consistent vehicles, and are a good economic choice. Before purchasing one, when I was in the market, I was actually looking for either a Honda Accord or a Toyota Camry, i.e. something cheap and dependable. When I couldn't find one, the first American vehicle I chose was the Chevy Malibu. I'm very, very glad I did so.
Story
I don't have any real memorable stories about my whip, but if you keep them maintained, they'll last almost forever.
Pros
Some of the pros are the vehicle's dependability, and access to parts if there's an issue. To be fair, I haven't had hardly any major issues, and the minor things I have had were all easily reachable (replacing a hose for example). They also have V6 engines, so they're good on gas.
Cons
One of the cons of the Chevy Malibu's have though, is the issue with the ignition switch. I didn't have an issue with mine until I had owned the vehicle for two to three years, to be fair, but the issue is known about by mechanics. Apparently the ignition switch in these models break/wear out after so many years, causing one's vehicle to not quite turn off, draining the battery in the process. They're kind of hard to reach, and a mechanic can drain your pockets if you're unlucky about it...
2010 Chevrolet Malibu - Good everyday drivers
Overall, the car is dependable. The features of the car are more than adequate (keyless entry, power windows, power locks, etc.). The overall power of the vehicle is adequate. The appearance is quite sleek and nice.
Story
Have used vehicle for a vacation. Drove from Alabama to Texas to stay at a cabin.
Pros
Power windows, power locks, keyless entry, and multiple controls on steering wheel. I love that you can roll the windows up after the ignition is turned off but before the driver door is opened.
Cons
The cup holder and center console is in an awkward position. Also, there is not much leg room in the back seat.
