2009 Chevrolet Malibu - US Built Quality
Overall satisfied with my Chevy Malibu. Good family car that is comfortable and fuel efficient. Cabin seating is comfortable and roomy. I purchased mine used with ultra low miles and have had many years of driving with only proper maintenance and new tires.
Story
Driving to Niagara Falls for our honeymoon in the Chevy. The car is comfortable for long drives and the five hours spent in the car passed quickly.
Pros
The gas mileage is fairly good. The interior cabin is quiet and comfortable during long rides. Sirius satellite radio is one of my favorite features, makes driving much more enjoyable. The cloth interior is soft and looks nice after all these years. On board diagnostics tell you tire pressure. Sometimes during the winter the heater takes a good while to warm up.
Cons
I would have preferred to have dual climate control in the vehicle. I think that the driver and passenger should be able to control the heat and A/C separate from one another. The car has some quirks where you need specific tools to do a brake job. Unless you go out to the internet to research, it will be expensive at the dealership to repair. Some of the speakers and interior trim rattle a little too much. I like a quiet cabin and fell the rattling was distracting. Only purchase this car if it comes with Sirius satellite radio. It is a necessity for cars these days to have a decent stereo... (more)
2006 Chevrolet Malibu - Faulty
We bought it used (only two years old). Right away it had issues (see below). We got it because we had two other Malibu leases before that and we liked the car.
Story
We brought our baby home in this car, and we drove up Mount Washington in this car. I would never do that again! I know it's showing I'm not meeting the lines required but I can't think of anything else!
Pros
Nice and compact without being too small. I liked that the rear seats fold all the way down or half down. Leather interior, electric driver seat and seat warmer...nice but nothing earth shattering.
Cons
Right away we had electrical issues. Things were not working right. The fuel gauge was faulty (had to drop the tank). At one point the car just shut off while driving it. Now having had it for another eight years, fuel gauge is messed up again. It is not getting it fixed. It shows empty if you have more than three quarters tank or if you have less than one quarter tank. I have had problems with the locks (have to use the key to not cause the alarm to go off even though it is shut off in the settings on the control panel). The drivers side door one half of the year always locks when you shu... (more)

The salesmen I dealt with made me feel welcome and respected. I've been to many dealers that clearly only wanted my money, but that wasn't the case here. They took extra time with me and even followed up a month after the sale to make sure everything was good with the car.

They saved me a lot of money by taking over my old lease at no cost to me. Because they also have a Subaru dealership, they were able to take over the remaining 7 lease payments, saving me thousands of dollars compared to other Chevy dealership offers.
