2006 Chevrolet Malibu - Faulty
We bought it used (only two years old). Right away it had issues (see below). We got it because we had two other Malibu leases before that and we liked the car.
Story
We brought our baby home in this car, and we drove up Mount Washington in this car. I would never do that again! I know it's showing I'm not meeting the lines required but I can't think of anything else!
Pros
Nice and compact without being too small. I liked that the rear seats fold all the way down or half down. Leather interior, electric driver seat and seat warmer...nice but nothing earth shattering.
Cons
Right away we had electrical issues. Things were not working right. The fuel gauge was faulty (had to drop the tank). At one point the car just shut off while driving it. Now having had it for another eight years, fuel gauge is messed up again. It is not getting it fixed. It shows empty if you have more than three quarters tank or if you have less than one quarter tank. I have had problems with the locks (have to use the key to not cause the alarm to go off even though it is shut off in the settings on the control panel). 2005 Chevrolet Malibu - Average car
I purchased this 2005 Chevy Malibu in 2010. The time I was in a desperate need for a car. The price was right, however the interest on the loan was terrible. The car currently has 275,000 miles and still runs pretty good. I have done a lot of driving in this car, and it has never left me stranded!
Story
We take our Malibu to the beach every summer and tailgated in the parking lot. We opened the windows, turned up the radio and BBQd. It is one of our favorite summer adventures!
Pros
The size of the car is perfect for my family. I have a pretty big car seat for my toddler, and I still have some room in the back seat for other things. The trunk is pretty big. We are able to fit a BBQ in the trunk with a large cooler of food.
Cons
There are two constant issues I have with my 2005 Chevy Malibu. The first issue is the windshield. For some reason, almost every winter I get a huge crack in the windshield. I have replaced the front windshield three times in the past seven years. The other issue is the coolant. It's apparently leaking because I need to fill it up frequently.
