This car is actually my first and I have had it for about 5 years. There have been some issues, such as having to replace the starter and a few other parts within the last year, but overall the car has been insanely reliable. I'm not necessarily the most knowledgeable when it comes to cars and rely on my uncle to handle all of the maintenance, but things like checking oil and other simple tasks are rather straight forward. I enjoy that the car has electric features but is not computerized like most cars that are available now. The vehicle handles well as far as I can tell, and while it is starting to show its age a bit, there is definitely life left in this car. Great for my daily commute to college. This car gets about 22 miles per gallon and doesn't cost an excessive amount to fill ... (more)
Story
Road-tripping to a music festival and camping out next to the car with friends was a lot of fun. It had just enough room for all of our weekend gear.
Pros
Good gas mileage Reliable Not computerized, but has electric features
Cons
Recall on ignition Getting to be an older vehicle Needs extra upkeep to maintain

I purchased the car as a used vehicle from a car rental company back in 2003. After 12 years, it still runs as well as it did the day I bought it. All I've had to do it make sure that it received its basic maintenance, such as oil changes. When I finally do purchase another car, I want to stay with the Chevy Malibu.
Story
In order to visit family in eastern Washington, I have to drive through Snoqualmie Pass. When heading for my first time across the pass in my car, I hit the sharp incline to the summit. The speed limit is 70 and I was falling behind to 60. So, I pushed the gas pedal to the floor and felt the car "jump" as it accelerated quickly, up a very steep slope, to 70.
Pros
The engine is very powerful and can manage to gain speed even in a very sharp incline. I've only had two major issues with the vehicle over the time that I've owned it. Both issues cost less than $1,000 to repair.
Cons
One of the major issues that I had with the car was a seal breaking down and leaking oil into the radiator. I was told by the service/dealership that this was a known issue, but Chevrolet deemed that the car owner would have to pay for the repair.
