If your goal is an enormous people-mover and stuff-mover that can keep a sleeping passenger asleep for the trip, this is your car. The Impala excels at interior and cargo room. With a trunk that can fit four full-size suitcases and a cabin that can seat 5 comfortably, this will get your people and their stuff where they need to go. The ride is exceptional, with a flat highway feeling like you're sitting in your driveway. However, do not plan on getting to your destination in a hurry. The V6 engine propels the cruiser from 0-60 in just under 10 seconds. Make sure you have extra fluids as the car will leak it all on the road.
Story
Moving to New York from Oklahoma, my car was overflowing with every physical item I owned. After the 21+ hour drive I rounded a bend on I-490 and, for the first time, saw the New York city skyline in the distance with the sunset just over it.
Pros
The ride of the vehicle is incredible. The room inside is fantastic. The Impala is perfect for road trips with lots of passengers and lots of luggage. The vehicle is reliable in terms of always starting up in the morning and never leaving you stranded on the side of the road. The sheer weight of the vehicle makes it great for the snow. The front wheel drive has pulled me through even the toughest of Pennsylvania and New York winters. Fuel economy is exceptional. IIHS estimates 18 city and 24 highway. Cons
Reliability. I previously stated the car will never leave you stranded. However, be prepared to fork over a pretty penny for parts that SHOULD only need occasional replacement. Brake pads, rotors, tires, batteries, tire balances, alignments, random electrical components, emergency brake, will all need service at short intervals. These components will not leave you stranded on the side of the road in a snowstorm, but you better be prepared to change these. Often.
