I love my HHR! It has the benefits of a SUV, specifically the hatch back and roomy trunk space, but it is also the size of a car. The hatch back is perfect for traveling, my stroller, or even groceries. Because it is not a huge SUV, the gas mileage is great! I love the unique look of the HHR also. The interior is roomy, including room leg room, back seat, and plenty of space in the front to store things. There are 2 cup holders, a glove box, a compartment on the dashboard, a compartment in between the seats, and space for CDs in the doors. The quality of the car cant be beat! I have over 120 k miles on it and have had no issues- no electrical problems and just needed normal maintenance thus far. Story
Driving this car to Myrtle Beach with my dog and family. We stopped often and opened the hatch back to have lunch at the park. I put a blanket down so my dog could lay with us.
Pros
Hatchback. Gets great mileage. Spacious. A lot of storage compartments.
Cons
I think the stereo system could be of better quality.

For the most part the Chevy HHR has been the best car I have owned to date. That is also considering I have owned mostly used cars bought at the side of the road.
Story
I became stranded in a friends driveway that inclined up to the road. I had to be towed out of the driveway because a thin layer of ice stopped the HHR from reaching the top. It was a terrible experienced but it was quite funny as so little ice seemed to pose such a problem that it was hilariously bad.
Pros
The music system is great, audio jack came standard which is great because I love to listen to audiobooks while I drive. The hatch back is also very convenient, I work on a farm and often want to keep tool in the back of the car. I have never taken the HHR out into the field, and I am hesitant to as it is still fairly new, but I am sure it would do ok as long it was dry.
Cons
Shortly after I bought the car, winter hit and the tires were horrible. It is a big car, but fairly light weight so going up hill became a crawl at best. There is a good chance that this con can be overcome simply by buying new tires.
