Since purchasing the Equinox this summer, used, with 75,000 miles, a number of things have gone wrong. I had to replace the head gasket within a couple weeks of owning the vehicle. Head gasket failures are apparently common with Chevys. After that, "emissions-related" parts have failed, costing about another $800 in repairs. Now that (hopefully) everything is fixed, I love the car and hope it will prove reliable. The MPG is decent for an SUV crossover, about 17-20. The heated leather seats, power moon roof, touchscreen console, GPS, power seat adjustor, and satellite radio all make me feel like I'm in a luxury vehicle. Story
Sure! The first time I drove it on the freeway after purchasing it, it broke down and I was stranded for hours!
Pros
I really feel like I'm driving a luxury vehicle. My favorite features are the automatic all wheel drive that kicks in on its on for traction, and the touch screen dashboard.
Cons
The negative things are all under the hood. This is the second Chevy that I've had the head gasket suddenly fail on, which is not good odds, as I've only owned two Chevys. Also, I'm not impressed the fuzzy gray low-quality interior.

My 2004 Chevrolet Equinox was a safe and reliable vehicle. At the time I had the car I lived in Michigan but went away to college in Ohio. I made the commute on several occasions and never once did I have an issue as far as quality is concerned.
Story
We would use my car to take roughly a 40 min trip per week to go to our favorite all you can eat wings restaurant. I think at one time we had about 12 people stuffed in the car for the trip.
Pros
Some pros of the vehicle are that it was great on gas. I would spend less than $40 a week commuting from my apartment to campus to work and back. I do not have an exact estimate on mileage, but I know I was doing a ton of driving at the time and the fuel costs were never an issue. The car handled well, had some great electronic features with a strong sound system.
Cons
My only con would be how the vehicle handled in the snow. It was rather light in the back and would kick out on me on occasion, but as long as I was traveling at a safe speed, I did not have an issue.
