Chevrolet Equinox Owner Ratings & Reviews

2005 Chevrolet Equinox - Chevy girl for life!
I have owned quite a few cars in my lifetime and I am sad to say most of them have been foreign. I was a Honda or Mitsubishi kind of girl because I just didn't know any better. I am a mother of two small boys and I recently found myself needing an SUV. My husband did all of the research, and for whatever reason he recommended the Chevrolet Equinox. My only criteria in our car buying search was the size of the vehicle. I didn't want the SUV to be too big for me. I definitely wanted to go with a pre-owned certified vehicle and, boy, the Chevrolet Equinox did not disappoint!
Story
When my husband suggested the Chevrolet Equinox I honestly never heard of it. However, soon after I purchased the vehicle I discovered the same type of car all over the road. A few days after purchasing mine, I got lost in the parking lot of our local Kroger's Supermarket because there just happened to be two others exactly like mine in the parking lot. Me and another owner with the same color... (more)
Pros
Although the vehicle we chose was nine years old and had 80,000 miles it looked brand new. The Chevy Equinox has a sleek body style that is timeless and it is quite difficult to see its age. Of course, we purchased the extended warranty because I had concerns with buying such an aged vehicle. However, I am elated to find that after almost 2 years everything is running as smooth and efficiently as ever. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone. The first owner enjoyed this car for 9 years and I am positive I will enjoy it for many years to come.
Cons
The only issue we have had with this vehicle is a recent recall with the ignition switch of certain Chevys. However, we brought it into our nearest Chevy dealer and it was taken care of right away.
2008 Chevrolet Equinox - Good reliable vehicle.
The 2008 Chevrolet Equinox has proved to be a very reliable vehicle even at high mileage. Its performance is amazing for an SUV. It easily squalls the tires if you punch the gas and handles extremely well on tight turns and winding roads. The vehicle is comfortable and sporty with very few maintenance issues. The few problems I have are related to design flaws - the cup holders pop out of the center console and break easily and the mass of wires that pass through a rubber boot from the dash to the doors are too tight or too short with the door fully open and can become damaged or pinched which in my case affected the passenger side power window.
Story
Drove the Equinox from Arkansas to South Carolina and back twice in less than a month with two adults and two large dogs (over 5,000 miles total) and had a great trip.
Pros
Handles extremely well on winding roads. Great acceleration. At 230,000 miles the interior still looks like new, exterior has no paint chips or fading. Gets great gas mileage for a V6 at 24 mpg highway or better. Back seat folds down and allows ample room for lumber, groceries, dogs, or other cargo. Reliable V6 3.4L engine - still running at 230,000 miles. Sporty look. Comfortable, adjustable seats and nice console/armrest for front seat passengers. Driver and passenger airbags. Easy to access spare tire and tool kit.
Cons
Power window buttons are located in the center by the shifter when almost every vehicle has them on the door. The wiring that goes through the rubber boot at the door gets pinched and caused the power window on the front passengers side not to work. Sits a little too low to the ground for an SUV. Battery is difficult to get to. Cup holders are flimsy and break easily. Front headlight lenses trap moisture and fog up. You have to remove the passenger side motor mount to change the serpentine belt.
