2012 Chevrolet Equinox - Equinox-a perfect family vehicle
The Equinox is roomy and will fit a number of different items in the back without putting the seat down. I fit a tent, two sleeping bags, two folding chairs, a suitcase, and a four-wheeled cart without blocking my view or lowering the seats. When the back seats are lowered, there is even more incredible space for equipment, etc.
Story
We have taken this vehicle on many excursions. I always keep my four-wheeled cart and two folding chairs in the back of the car for either the beach or crew regattas.
Pros
I love the size. Five people can fit comfortably. It is great on gas mileage consumption, and it is a smooth ride on both highway and city streets. The Equinox is also less expensive to maintain or fix.
Cons
The smaller engine can make the car sound like it is revving the engine when going up steep hills. I would also like a hitch to be standard on smaller SUVs.
2013 Chevrolet Equinox - Weak, poorly crafted.
I wanted something with all wheel drive for the winter months and something with a bit more space in the back than my previous sedan. This vehicle has these things, but that is where the positive features end. Beyond that I have very little good to say.
Story
I have used it to haul our kayaks on the roof and spend a nice day on the river.
Pros
It has more space than a car. Nice for hauling larger items from the store. It has all wheel drive, so I am not worried about getting stuck in the winter months here in Michigan.
Cons
Where to begin? The 4 cylinder engine sucks and you can feel every shift up and down as it goes. This vehicle is so under powered and has zero pep when you step on it. There steering randomly goes in and out of tightness. Sometimes the button lights go out and none of the control panel buttons work until you restart the car. It has also had problem with the powertrain. Avoid this vehicle. Avoid GM.
