This is a great little SUV. It has enough room for the new baby, the dog and all of the necessary equipment that goes along with travelling with a new baby and a dog. Despite its size, the equinox also gets great gas mileage. The options available in the LTZ trim package are excellent as well.
Story
We took a family camping trip and were able to fit the cooler, tent, sleeping bags, pillows, and all the other camping gear as well as a car seat, travel crib, and stroller in the back end. It made the drive to the campsite easy and affordable at 28 mpg.
Pros
Size. Interior space. Gas mileage.
Cons
Large bling spots. Lacks acceleration. No AWD.

I purchased the 2016 Chevy Equinox because it was the only SUV in its size range that had enough room in the back seat for my son's car seat that still allowed him to have appropriate leg room. I went with the LTZ model for the additional safety features that were offered (ex. front end collision monitor, back-up camera).
Story
If you buy a car with a sunroof, remember to double check that you closed it so that you don't leave it open in the rain.....
