2015 Chevrolet Equinox - 2015 Equinox.
When I got to the dealership I liked the range of colors that were available. I ended up choosing the darker gray, I think it is called charcoal or slate, I am unsure. It is a sparkly-ish dark gray color. It does not show scratches or dirt super fast. I like how it accelerates, drives, and overall, I am very pleased with the vehicle. It performs well on ice, in ND that is a huge plus. There are some big blind spots, however, but after a few drives I ended up knowing how to look around them and got used to where they were. I have never been stuck in snow, mud, etc. I like the eco boost option, and it is pretty decent on gas. I get about 24 miles to the gallon on the highway and 20-22 in town. I like the Bluetooth connection for the phone, the OnStar option, XM radio, etc. Navigating the... (more)
Story
The Equinox is a very popular car around my city, and often times I will walk to other people's cars thinking they are my own and try to get in them, only to realize they are not my own. I have had the same happen with my car and other people.
Pros
Bluetooth connection, smooth driving, traction control on ice, sound system is pretty good as well. I like the power seat how it can move up and down as well as back and forth. I like that the back seat folds completely flat, flush with the trunk space. The tires that came stock still have a lot of tread left on them after three years and 45000 miles.
Cons
Blind spots are large, fabric interior is hard to clean, passenger seat on LT is not power.
2008 Chevrolet Equinox - Workhorse
Initially, I thought it had too much chrome and was much smaller than my previous car. I liked the fact that it was roomier inside than it appeared, as I needed something to haul the grandkids, the dog, and all their gear. I do not like that it is so tall that it hits me - I am only 5' 3" - in the thighs when I am loading the groceries into the back of the car. It is high for me when I am lifting the dog into the back also. I have to crawl into the back of the car to put the cargo bar back in. I like the fact the backseats, when the seats are laid down, are fairly flat, but they do have a enough of an incline that it is sometimes hard to put the eight-foot tables into the back and keep them level.
Story
Taking it fishing at the local pond, having the room to haul all the fishing rods, tackle, chairs and other items. Early in the morning with the frogs singing. Waving at the train going thru town and getting a blast of the horn and a friendly wave back from the engineer. Always enjoyable.
Pros
The Chevy Equinox is quite a workhorse. The seats lay down for hauling lumber, carpet, banquet tables, and recently a large box that contained a wardrobe that was oversized. My car is the one we take on long trips and is the family car. We have not really had many problems in the five years I have owned it (second hand), and so far, the Illinois winters have not slowed it down. I love the ease of driving and the heated seats. The back seat will slide forward or back for leg room. Original tires lasted many years too.
Cons
The skylight has had problems since day one. It leaks and cannot close it after opening it while driving at any speed, as it will not seal well. Cannot really take it through the automatic car wash, as it leaks. The area between the seats in the front could be better designed, because it has hard-to-reach areas. The sensors in the tire caps do not last very long and just as well to replace these for regular sensors. The luggage rack is too hard to get to.
