2015 Chevrolet Equinox - Love our Chevy Equinox, will never look back!
The quality of this vehicle is fantastic. It's sturdy, comfortable, and there's a good reason it was rated top in its class for dependability in 2015. We've noticed no strange noises, no issues, and have been driving it for about five months. In that time, we've put about 7,000 miles on it. The GPS navigation is very helpful, and we love the Bose sound system in it. It makes the morning commute so much better to have quality sound for radio and audiobooks. It's been very practical for our toddler in the backseat, since we can adjust how close it is to the front seats. This will come in very handy when our second child is born in about two months. Story
I asked my husband last week if he'd started the car yet. He raised his eyebrows, pointed his key fob at the front door, and I heard the engine start. He then winked at me and cheekily answered "Yep!" This used to be such a hassle, and now with the remote start it's so easy.
Pros
Best things about this car are the smooth ride, the way it handles even in inclement weather, the level of comfort from the interior features, the remote start (we don't have a garage, so this has been a huge benefit this winter!), and the affordability. The heating and cooling system seems to be efficient as well. I was thrilled to find such a quality used vehicle at under $20K.
Cons
I do wish the gas mileage were a little better, but it's likely been worth the trade-off to have the all-wheel drive, especially now that we're in the heart of winter.
2010 Chevrolet Equinox - I view this as an average car
Overall this is an average car. It has not had an excessive amount of repair work, it is comfortable, dependable, and has average performance. It is not ugly, but I also don't spend much time admiring it. The all wheel drive is nice, but at times I wish it had more power and more room.
Story
I enjoyed using this vehicle to transport branches from a tree I trimmed at my house. I was able to connect a carrier to the trailer hitch on and then pile the branches on the carrier. I was able to transport material without a truck which was nice.
Pros
One of the best things about this vehicle is the all wheel drive. I have had success navigating this vehicle on snow and ice. I also like that a trailer hitch can be added to the vehicle. I was able to add one myself and it has been very helpful to have a trailer hitch. I also like the gas mileage that this vehicle gets. It averages around 25mpg which is good for something this size and that is all wheel drive. The vehicle display information is also a nice feature. Cons
This car seems to use a little bit of oil. I change the oil myself regularly and I always take out a noticeable amount less oil than what I put in. This car has had some maintenance problems. We have had to have the air conditioner worked on and have also had problems with bearings on the wheels. This car does not have a lot of power. For an SUV there is not much room. It will probably only fit four adults comfortably. Attempting to change the oil yourself is difficult because of the type and location of the oil filter.
