2008 Chevrolet Equinox - Practical, mid-size SUV
Our 2008 Chevy Equinox is sporty looking for an SUV, with adequate interior room, convenient fold-down seating for space, also has convenient roof racking and towing package. It was a nice choice for an adventurous couple as ourselves. The exterior is sharp looking with an appealing blue color; however, the interior is oddly designed. One of the cons of this vehicle is the remote window controls are not on the doors. In addition, there is no lighting on the automatic shifter, allowing you to see what gear you are actually placing the vehicle in. It is on the dashboard, but in the dark, your eyes follow to your hand, which is doing the shifting. We are generally happy with the vehicle's performance. Fuel economic is a plus. It has been a fairly reliable vehicle with oil changes and tire... (more)
Story
Driving to a desolate part of the countryside, then folding down the seats to lie in the back to observe a meteor shower.
Pros
Sporty looking and roomy interior with a convenient roof rack and towing package. Interior seating is very comfortable, plenty of leg space for all seated in the vehicle. Comfortable vehicle for traveling long distances.
Cons
Interior design with odd placement of automatic window controllers and lack of lighting around the shifter. Door handle on driver side is broken after one year of owning the vehicle. You can not get out of the car from the inside. You must roll down the window to open the door and let yourself out.
2012 Chevrolet Equinox - Great shape of a car, but the insides are to be desired
I have a 2012 Chevy Equinox. I have had it since 2014 and bought it at a used car place, CarMax. It ran great at first with no problem. The exterior of the car and the interior of the car is nice. It is roomy and the buttons and features are aesthetically pleasing. But there are some things to be desired.
Story
My husband and I took a lovely trip to Yosemite, and the comfort was great. I use this car on my long commutes to work giving me my quiet time.
Pros
The car itself can fit a good amount of people and is roomy for additional passengers in the front and in the back. The leather is durable, and the back hatch and back have a lot of room. It's an SUV, but runs more like a car. It sits a little lower than a normal SUV, which I liked since I'm rather small. Parts seem to be readily available for this year so for any issues it's nice I don't have an issue in that area getting parts. Gas mileage is decent, especially on freeway miles.
Cons
This car burns oil like there is no tomorrow. I have had nothing but issues with the oil since I purchased it. Chevy and other dealers can't determine why. I have had to have the engine replaced already, and this new engine does the same thing. I drive a lot and put some tough freeway miles on it, but I have to go in for oil well before I hit the 3,000-mile mark.
