Chevrolet Equinox Owner Ratings & Reviews

2003 Chevrolet Equinox - Positive startup
I previously owned a used 2003 Chevy Equinox. It was red and the color was easy to find when I was unsure of where my car was located. The vehicle was easy to drive in the snow and other weather conditions that the state of Ohio. Overall, the Chevy was a good car for someone who is looking for a start up sport utility vehicle. However, the Chevy Equinox does not get good gas mileage. I would have to fill up my tank weekly which can lead to be expensive depending on your income. Also, I had issues with the engine and other utility parts of the vehicle. Due to the year of the vehicle, unfortunately, the parts that were needed were not worth replacing.
Story
I was able to take my vehicle for the first time to visit my best friend in Toledo, Ohio. I felt in control of the Equinox on the Ohio turnpike and fit in with other drivers on the road. This experience was a huge victory for me as my parents rarely allowed me to drive my vehicle long distances. I was proud of my vehicle for making it that far and not needing to fill up on gas for the whole jo... (more)
Pros
The Chevy Equinox is a great vehicle to use in the snow. It has anti-lock brakes, and you do not slide as much as you would in a regular vehicle. The Equinox also has you sitting up higher so you have a better view of your surroundings.
Cons
The Equinox has horrible gas mileage. With around 20 mpg, I was definitely not able to maximize on the vehicle by taking it on long trips. Also, my vehicle did not last as long due to engine parts.
2013 Chevrolet Equinox - My 2013 Chevy Equinox was worth it.
I bought the Equinox because it got a combination of great performance, handling, reliability and mileage reviews. I was not disappointed in any of these aspects. It has been a great car for the family as well as for me to drive as my primary commuting vehicle.
Story
We were on a family vacation to South Carolina - which was 16 hours from my home. We stopped on the way there to overnight, but on the way back, the kids were so comfortable that we powered through the entire drive so we could be home in one day.
Pros
It has enough power to climb hills in the Poconos, but also gets outstanding mileage around town and on the highways with its Eco option so that the total cost of ownership remains low. It is relatively easy to fold the seats down so there is ample storage space. As an SUV, it sits high so is both easy to climb into and gives a good view when driving.
Cons
On the downside, my vehicle has had a few electric problems. I have gone to the dealership a few times to work this out. Nothing that has caused any enormous problems, since it mostly with interior lights and the radio.

2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo - Jake Sweeney Chevrolet Cincinnati
What made this dealership great is that I never felt like I was pressured into making a purchase. Most of the other dealerships that I had been to immediately started trying to talk me into a car that I wasn't interested in and couldn't even afford.
At Jake Sweeney they instead gave me some distance and let me browse the lot by myself first to see what they had. Then the rep asked me a few questions to get an idea of what I was looking for and what my budget was. They also never made me feel like less of a customer because of the fact that I was looking for a modestly priced used car instead of something brand new.
1996 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - Premier Gmc Rittman
They were willing to work with us and our budget. They allowed us to choose what bank we wanted to work with, our own bank that we have another loan through, for ease of payments. They knew and understood this was an older truck and was going to need repairs more often than a new truck. They were willing to budge on the price a bit more due to this. They were honest about the problems with the truck, the fact it had no air conditioning, that they tried to fix it and were unsuccessful. This was really the only problem with the truck. This was the reason they budged on their price more as well.
