The interior of the car is just okay. The button on the dashboard that is used to turn the child locks on and off has fallen off a few times. It is easy to fix in that I just have to clip it back in; but on occasion, it has been too late when it has fallen off in the car. The chrome around the front cup holders has been chipping and is now sharp and could cut someone. I do like how the backseat is able to move forwards and backwards in order to accommodate space in the trunk or people's leg room. The check engine light came on, and I have taken it to the dealership, and no one could find anything wrong, so they cleared the light and sent me on my way. However, a week later, the check engine light was back on, and so I took it back to the dealership and again couldn't find anything wron... (more)
Story
When dropping a friend off at the Cincinnati airport, the GPS took us on a really curvy road, and the Equinox handled the sharp turns very nicely and never felt like it was a bigger car. It also felt very responsive to what I wanted it to do.
Pros
I like the remote start and the back-up camera. The back-up camera makes it much easier to see to back up since there are some blind spots. It is also a positive the fact that the backseat can be moved forwards or backwards depending on if people are riding in the backseat or if you are hauling something in the trunk. The trunk area is pretty spacious, and I have been able to haul some furniture pieces. Someone once rear ended the back of the vehicle, but there was no damage to the bumper or the Equinox, but there was damage to their own car which means this car is sturdy.
Cons
One scary thing is that if you are on an incline like a hill and you are stopped and your foot goes from the brake to the gas, the car will start to roll backwards. And if you don't push the gas fast enough, the car keeps rolling and essentially turns off so you have to engage the emergency brake. When I took it to a mechanic, they explained that is an economic feature. I also do not like how flimsy the buttons seem to be and how the chrome around the cup holders is chipping off. It can be hard to see when backing up through the back windows there are some big blind spots.

The Chevy Equinox is an interesting crossover SUV that combines the terrific fuel efficiency of a car with the spacious interior of an SUV. I purchased a 2012 Chevy Equinox LT1. The extra features included on this model were power windows, power locks, power mirrors, and remote start. Don't underestimate the value of remote start in the Summer and Winter months when you want to freeze out the heat or warm up the chill. I totally love this vehicle and plan on buying a new one if my Equinox ever needs to be replaced. My Equinox is like part of the family. It is safe and handles well. The stock tires are top quality, and replacements are easily found. The car's handling is excellent. I have steered out of a skid and a serious accident. It is satisfying to know that I am in a safe vehicle.... (more)
Pros
The pros to purchasing an Equinox include: 30+ mpg on highway for the 4 cylinder engine, 18-19 gallon capacity so almost 600 miles on one fill up, comfortable front and rear seats, lots of leg room, lots of space to hold cargo, can hold personal cargo and outdoor cargo, has a powerful engine with lots of giddy up (no go cart feel), resilient, excellent standard equipment (I have never changed my brakes and I am pushing 80000 miles).
Cons
The cons to purchasing an Equinox include: Chevy's attempt to drum up business for Sirius/XM and On-Star - you are only given limited options and there is no in vehicle GPS if you quit On-Star, Chevy's service is not desirable (I go to a GMC dealer instead), the on board computer that tracks your smartphone when synced is full of glitches
