I like the older models of the equinox better than the newer because they are more roomy. It gets fairly decent gas mileage. It seems as if it is made of pretty flimsy material, the inside is clean basic but clean.
Story
Taking it up to see the waterfalls in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
Pros
It is a very roomy vehicle. Decent gas mileage.
Cons
Dents easily. Has had a lot of mechanical problems.

2007 Chevrolet Equinox - Chevy Equinox - fun to drive, easy on gas and convenient for everything you do.

Overall I am very pleased with my 07 equinox. It has been reliable and gives me little trouble, even at nearly 200k miles. It holds a good amount of cargo, handles well and gets terrific gas mileage. It is nice looking going down the road and although the body styles have changed this still looks newer going down the road than it actually it. The paint and clear coat have held up well. I've had to replace the alternator and ignition - but nothing else. The only real annoyance is the ignition difficult but everything else is so great it's easily overlooked. I highly recommend the equinox.
Story
My grandmother passed away some years ago and her house sat empty for years. One day I decided to tackle that house and sell what could sell. I managed to fit almost an entire 2 bedroom house in that truck (in two trips). Didn't have to rent a moving van at all! (left the stinky couch and appliances there but took 2 bedroom suites, lots and lots of boxes and misc. furniture like chairs, end ta... (more)
Pros
The number one pro for me for the equinox is gas mileage. I drove a four cylinder stick shift before this truck and expected to be hating life at the gas station but it isn't nearly as bad as I expected. It's actually only a little worse than my car was. The truck is nice to drive - handles well and doesn't feel like it might tip in a curve or wind as some of the taller SUVS can. It is a good mid-size SUV that can hold a surprising about of stuff without feeling huge on the road and at the pump. So far, knock on wood, it's been very reliable. I've changed the ignition and alternator along ... (more)
Cons
The Equinox has a few less than perfect qualities. The ignition switches are known to fail regularly (at least in this model year). I have replaced mine once ($150 approx.) and after a year it froze up again. Now I baby it to remove the key, sometimes waiting up to a minute for the car to release the key to me. That's the most negative experience I've had. On a less intrusive note, the back seats do not lay down completely flat for hauling - which is sometimes frustrating. Two other things I can think of are that the heater (or A/C set to feet) blows mostly on the passenger side and only l... (more)
