1992 Chevrolet Corvette - Classic Muscle
The Chevrolet Corvette is an American Icon. I always wanted one when I was a kid. When I graduated college I finally got one. It was in 1992. I bought it new. I still have it (2016) and it only has 80,000 miles on it. It has the OLD LT1 engine in it. It has the Chevy LS motor which is entirely different than the new 2015 LT motors in Corvettes. It was not America's favorite body style. In the mid 80’s Chevy changed to this body style and changed it again around 1997. The first cars of this body style were WAY under powered. That was the “Port Tuned Injection” motors. They only had around 200 hp and 200 ft. lbs. of torque. The 1992 had a fairly good 300 HP, but an AWESOME 400 ft. lbs. of torque. Torque is what sets you back in the seat, not HP. The car performs very well. It drives like... (more)

The interior of this car is like a fighter jet cockpit. Despite the plain exterior, the car lives up to the Corvette name as far as performance and luxury goes. You can really get a good deal on these cars right now as they are not people's favorite.
When in college. I drove a boring F150 that was 15 years old. I am a car guy so I was always at the local car show on Saturdays. Upon graduation I treated myself with the Corvette for graduating Engineering. I didnt tell anyone. The leather interior is exceptional. The cockpit has a rocketship feel. The torque is unending. The motor is a Chevy LT1 and the parts are really cheap. The entire front end lifts away (instead of a hood) so you can reach everything to work on it (except the water pump and distributor lets not even go there). The suspension and handling is second to none (for 1992). The low and wide body rides the corners like a roller coaster. The wide tires in the front and back have endless grip. The price is REALLY cheap because this isn't peoples favorite body style. Everyone and their dog makes after... (more)

The price is REALLY cheap because this isn't peoples favorite body style. Everyone and their dog makes aftermarket parts for it so they are plentiful, and every single junkyard I go to has one. Gas mileage is surprisingly good for 1992 V8. It runs around 26 MPG.
This is the worst body style of all the Corvettes (according to Corvette fans, but not me, I like it). It's only 2 seats with no trunk. Insurance can be quite high on it. Ground clearance is really low, so watch out.

2018 Chevrolet Corvette - The great Corvette Z06.
The Chevrolet Corvette has never been better. The front engine, rear wheel driven all-American sports car is one of the sweetest handling machines this side of supercar territory. But above the lowly Stingray and underpowered Grand Sport, the Z06 begs the question, what separates sports cars from supercars? Co-developed with the C7.R racecar, it shouldn’t surprise us that this has genuine pedigree. Available in standard form or with a Z07 handling package, this is the one ‘Vette to rule them all, particularly if your addiction is for chewing tires and spitting out rapid lap times around a race track.

I took my wife on a romantic date in this car and we ended up making out in the back seat of the Corvette.

Much like the standard Corvette, entry and egress to and from the Z06 is tricky thanks to wide door sills and a low stance. Once inside, the two-seater is decidedly ‘snug’ though not uncomfortably so. An open top experience in the convertible changes the atmosphere to one of an airy nature, but at the compromise of the edgy driving dynamics. The driver-centric cockpit centers around standard GT seats, but Competition Sport seats are optionally available with extra side bolstering. The driver-centric cockpit centers around standard GT seats, but Competition Sport seats are optionally available with extra side bolstering. Lightweight carbon fiber and aluminum trim adds refinement and an aggressive touch, as does a flat-bottomed steering wheel. An optional heads-up display enhances the driver’s experience. Chevrolet’s MyLink touch screen infotainment system is standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, and a premium Bose audio system. A 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot turns the Z06 into a complete mobile connectivity hub. The Corvette Z06 offers available Magnetic Selective Ride Control with magnetorheological dampers. The system allows the hardcore Z06 to be passably comfortable on road, though cross-country trips wouldn’t be advisable. The suspension in the Z06 definitely errs on the firm side, but also offers exceptional support against body roll through corners. The steering is accurate and quick, darting whichever way you point it without pause for thought. Grip is possibly the Z06’s greatest strength. It clings to the road like it’s stuck with industrial grade Velcro – and that’s on just the standard tires. With the wider, grippier Pilot Super Sport Cup 2 tires from Michelin in the Z07 pack, the only way you’ll come unstuck is if you’ve got a death wish. Standard steel rotor brakes do an exceptional job, but for hardened track usage, larger carbon ceramic discs from Brembo are available – also in the Z07package.
The Corvette has not been crash tested, but does feature ABS brakes and stability control. Although the 2018 Chevrolet Corvette is considered to be a performance bargain, some models are still too expensive for the average car buyer. You will have to shell out at least $82,000 for the high-performance Z06 model.

1997 Chevrolet Corvette - Great vehicle
Overall, great vehicle. I would recommend it to anyone. These cars, in my opinion, are the cheapest way to go fast that there is right now.

Putting the new exhaust on the car and firing it up for the first time and having my wife tell me that the windows rattled when I pushed the throttle.

Performance. This car is a base model, but it has all the performance that you could want in a daily-driven vehicle. There is not too much to make it hard to drive in traffic but enough to really rip on the highways and back roads. Comfort - This is at heart a sports car, so I would not recommend taking a cross-country trip in the car, but driving a couple miles to and back from work everyday is not too bad. Aftermarket support - I have an older version of this car, but there is still strong aftermarket support. If you do not like something about the factory vehicle, there is almost no en... (more)

If you do not like something about the factory vehicle, there is almost no end to the customized parts you can find to make the car of your dreams. Repair - This car can still be worked on by the average wrench turner. I have done all the major repairs/updates to this car, and I am by no means a master mechanic.
There is some production issues that the earlier models suffer from, which was fixed in the mid-model update. The cheap interior should be one of the first things a new owner updates. Cheap stereo, again should be updated with modern technology. Pop-up headlights tend to fail. New owners should replace them with new kits when they fail.
