The Cobalt line made by Chevrolet promised a lot, yet, failed in the delivery. The car was promoted as a fuel efficient daily driver, that had the style to capture the youthful driver. The car looks nice, and has nice lines. The motor is reliable, and the leather interior stands up to a lot of driver wear. Unfortunately, the car failed to deliver in most of the other areas.
Story
While driving the vehicle in Oklahoma, the steering wheel locked up due to a faulty part. So I had no control of the vehicle and about hit a tree before I could get it stopped.
Pros
The main good feature of the is the really good gas mileage. I averaged 36 mpg on the hi-way and 25 in the city. The cruise control functioned well, and the controls on the steering wheel are easy to use. The mp3 reading sound system was also nice. I had the Pioneer sound package on the car, and it had nice highs and solid bass.
Cons
The car has a 2.2L 4-cylinder engine, that is under powered. The power moon roof has plastic tracks that tend to break. The clear coat started pealing after a couple of years. The switches for the power windows had to be replaced several times during the course of ownership. The car was made to haul five passengers, as long as the rear riding passengers were really short. The car also had multiple recalls and safety issues.

My Chevy Cobalt has been wonderful to me. The only problems I have had with this vehicle have been routine, small, and inexpensive. I have had it for about 4 years, and almost reached 100,000 miles. One of the deciding factors about purchasing it was the power windows, power locks, and auxiliary input. I was actually in a front-end collision last year in my Cobalt. I was not hurt, and walked away thanks to the safety features on this car. Since then, I have got all the repairs done and it still works like a charm. I had a baby this year, and with all the safety ratings and such I was very pleased with this car purchase for my small family needs. There are a few things that I've had problems with such as: power windows stop working and start working randomly and buttons get stuck. The c... (more)
Story
On the weekends when I lived in Northwest Arkansas, I used to drive my car in the mountains. My Fiancé and I would get in the car with our Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Einstein, and go pick up some burgers, fries and shakes from a local burger stand. I would bring my camera, and we would go to Beaver Lake. There was a small picnic area we would always go to and spend hours eating, laughing, and spend... (more)
Pros
Some of my favorite things about the vehicle are the cosmetic features. I like that most of the interior and dash is black and easy to clean. The back seat space is incredible, and can easily fit three adults. The radio and audio system is wonderful for coming with the vehicle and not after-market parts. I was sold when I found out it had an auxiliary input, which I use every time I drive. The power locks were a huge plus for me as well. The gas mileage is incredible. I drove 40+ miles a day to work and home and a tank would last me over a week. This car also handled amazingly in icy and s... (more)
Cons
I do not like that when the car is put into park, all four doors automatically unlock. Being a small woman and mother, this makes me feel unsafe. Since I bought the car four years ago, I have had a problem with the power windows. Some days they will not roll down, while others they work fine. There has been a few times where they have rolled down, and would not roll back up for a few hours. The car handles on the inside of the door have been chipping from their black color, and are turning grey from daily minimal wear. The steering column does not have much range, and for someone who is sh... (more)

They were patient and very friendly. I was unsure of what model car I wanted and I visited several times during the week. I was helped by the same two people and never felt rushed.
