2007 Chevrolet Cobalt - Chevy Cobalt- Risky Car
I have a 2007 Chevy Cobalt LS, coupe. The car is very good looking but has had worse than average performance. I have had a fuel line leak, which should never happen. In addition to two recalls, I have also had electrical problems that prevented me from taking my car out of park. The radio display works intermittently, so occasionally I am not able to see the time or what station I am on. Also the connections to the front two speakers is broken, so sound only comes out of the rear speakers. This makes it uncomfortably loud for people in the back seat if I have music playing. The car does have a nice sporty look to it. Its fuel efficiency is low relative to other cars in its class. Overall, I think I have had a better experience than most with this car. I would not purchase it again, th... (more)
Story
Once I accidentally lost my car key while running on a trail, and my only spare key was in another state with my parents. I had to tow my car to my apartment and wait for my parents to ship me the spare key.
Pros
Look, trunk space, easy of pushing front seats forward, and initial cost.
Cons
Reliability, fuel efficiency, and needed repairs for things that should not have broken.
2010 Chevrolet Cobalt - Chevy Cobalt - Great Car
I purchased my Chevy Cobalt brand new from the dealership back in 2010. I went and shopped around for about a week, and almost purchased a Kia brand car. However, this Cobalt just felt more sturdy/safe and well built than the Kia.
Story
My friends and I drive this car from Ohio to Atlanta, GA every year for a pop culture convention called DragonCon. It has plenty of room, and is great for a road trip like that :) !
Pros
In 5 years and 80,000+ miles, the only thing I've ever had to get replaced on the car were tires and break pads (once). It has really been a great car to take on both long and short trips. It turns really nicely, which makes it very easy to park.
Cons
The locks and windows are not automatic, which is annoying. However, that was really my own choice in preference (to save money), and not a fault of the car itself.
I will say the sound system that was installed in the car isn't the greatest. I have had small electrical problems; if I plug a device into the AUX jack for music, it sometimes makes a crackling sound and doesn't work properly. Also, parts of the speakers sometimes do not work (specifically, the ones on the left side of the car). The paint on the buttons on the stereo also chipped off.
These are the only issues I have had, though!
