2008 Chevrolet Cobalt - Economical despite a few glitches
My 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt has gotten me from point A to point B for eight years with minimal issues. It's a little small, but that's perfect for someone who is only 5'2". There's plenty of trunk room to fit all of my never-ending shopping sprees. The car is great on gas, which leaves extra money in my pocket. And at 130,000 miles, it still runs great. I have had issues with a few minor things. There was a recall on the power steering that I did not know about and it suddenly went out while driving one day, making it nearly impossible for me to get home. Chevrolet replaced it free of charge, though. I've also had issues with the automatic locks, the tire pressure sensors, and the stereo.
Story
I accidentally left my windows down one night and a huge spider made home in my car. The next day while driving, this car appeared on the dash while on the highway with my best friend. We had to try our hardest to stay calm, but it made for the best story for months.
Pros
Great on gas, cheap maintenance, comfortable, large trunk space, safe.
Cons
Electrical issues of some sort resulting in issues with the locks, issues with the lights on the dash, issues with the stereo and the buttons on the stereo, the contacts to read tire pressure not reading the pressure correctly. Also, the power steering flaw. Lack of style. Lack of room for if I want to drive several people around.
2005 Chevrolet Cobalt - Great dependable car
My Cobalt. I was apprehensive about buying it at first. It was used and I have not bought American before. But this car has been the best in terms of maintenance and cost. In the four years owning it, I have only had one major issue: the water pump seal leaking, and it cost me around 300 to replace due to the location on the motor having to be lifted. Other than that, it's been nothing but routine maintenance and very cheap parts compared to any imports I've owned. It's never left me stranded on the side of the road, and it still runs great. The only complaint I can say is it has cheap interior parts made of plastic that crack over time with the sun.
Story
It took me one day all the way up to Maryland into Amish country. I will never forget that day. Quick decision road trip that turned into one seriously great day. I will never forget.
Pros
Built good with low maintenance. Has had zero break downs. Cheap ready available parts for replacing things needed over time. The gas mileage is great.
Cons
Cheap plastic that cracks in the sun over time.
