The 1998 Chevy C1500 has been a very dependable truck for me and my family. We bought it cash and have owned it for 3 years with no major issues. It has been a tough truck and even though it is 8 cylinders I could not tell. It has plenty of pick up and go. Everyone in my family enjoys the truck. My boys are bigger in size and they have a hard time finding a vehicle they can fit comfortable in. They fit comfortably in the 1998 Chevy C1500. The only small issues we have had is the door latches and pins wearing out. This is a small issue for us considering the truck is almost 20 years old. We drive it around town all day in a southern state and even in the summer we have never had a problem with it overheating. I have owned many cars in my lifetime and I would have to say this is my favor... (more)
Story
I enjoyed riding around with my husband on back roads. I have owned many cars in my lifetime and I would have to say this is my favorite. Everyone in my family has driven the truck. My son drove it for a while when he was delivering pizzas. He knew he would not be broke down on the side of the road anywhere and he said every pizza made it on time!
Pros
My favorite features on the 1998 Chevy C1500 is the simplicity of the motor. I am no mechanic but I can pretty much figure out where every part is on the truck. There is plenty of space under the hood and the parts are not compacted all together. I love knowing parts are where they have been for many years. One car we own that is a newer model has the battery under the back seat! We had to research to find out where it was at first. There are no surprises like that with the 1998 Chevy C1500. I also do not have to worry when I am out with my family in the truck because I know it will get us... (more)
Cons
The only negative things about the 1998 Chevy C1500 we have experienced is the door latches and hinges. We have had to replace the hinges on the driver side door and have had to grease the latches on both doors. This is not a major problem considering the truck is almost 20 years old. Also the driver side door is obviously used more than the passenger door so having to change the hinges is no big deal. Like I stated before there is plenty of room to work on the motor if needed because the parts are not all compacted together like a lot of vehicles these days. They only problem is because i... This truck was the first truck I have purchased and I have nothing but good things to say. Yes, it is older, so I have had to do some work on it, but it is incredibly comfortable, has more than enough power for what I need and seems to always be up to the task. On top of that, the paint jobs on these trucks are superb and they always seem to shine once cleaned up a little. The body style on these trucks are excellent and look great. I have even had people tell me they look like a 2018 model when I have them cleaned. I have to imagine they would be safe vehicles as well. The 350 vortec motors have a great reputation and often perform up to the task. Further, they are straightforward to work on and parts for these trucks, including but not limited to, the motor are always readily availab... (more)

Was fun to drive. People saw you coming and got out of the way for me. Started with a 396, which was a lot of fun, but broke a year later. Tried to find a 454, but couldn't find an affordable one. so had to stick with 350's which were not enough power. my truck might have rust and been beat up but its my greatest buy ever and it will be my pride and joy no matter what it looks like I will always love my Chevy 1980 custom 10 deluxe CHEVY!! its got a mild 350 300 horse, stock heavy duty brakes, slammed to ground so it handles well, it the build Quality is good because I built it with my dad, needs a new carburetor front tires, and a larger alternator, no squeaks or rattles, custom pearl paint and custom leather like interior, about 7 miles a gallon because of the low gears, 3 speed trans... Story
Well lets see, when I bought it was running like a champ, It has that BIG truck feel to it, It didn't have that get up and go, that I figured it should, but lol it sounded cool. Took it off-roading a bunch of times, and was never let down. Had to pull other people out.
Pros
Power and size.
Cons
Fuel economy is nil.
